And there are many who are away from home for Diwali celebrating its away from home. <br /><br />That has increased the business for hotel aggregators and travel booking platforms. <br /><br />Oyo’s booking trends show that from 25th October to 31st October, 2019, people are heading to the land of beaches, Goa, followed by Delhi and Bangalore. The company also said that most Delhiites have booked trips to Amritsar, Jaipur and Lucknow whereas Mumbaikars plan to visit Pune, Mahabaleshwar and Lonavala. For the festive season in October, Zostel has received over 14,000 room night bookings with a total expected of 24,000. <br /><br />Zostel saw a 32% increase in inbound foreign travelers, and 27% increase in solo travelers, 42% increase in female travelers along with a 28% increase in solo female travelers.<br /><br />But it’s not just about short getaways, Indians also have long planned international vacations. According to booking platform Cleartrip, Indians have been booking for trips to Thailand, Istanbul, Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia. <br /><br />“Among international travellers, we are seeing an emergence of the quest for new. Thailand bookings that are usually skewed in favour of Bangkok and Pattaya are seeing a shift towards Phuket. Another top emerging destination on the list of international travellers is Istanbul, which has made it among the top 10 destinations this festive season. The emergence of Phuket and Istanbul is also propelled by the new capacity added by Indian LCCs to those destinations,” said Balu Ramchandran, Senior Vice President – Cleartrip.<br />

<p><div class="image-container float_right"><div class="image"><p class="source">Google Finance</p></div></div>Investors and traders are back from their three-day weekends, and they're bidding stock prices higher.</p>
<p>The S&amp;P 500 is up by 1.0%. The Dow is up 113 points, or about 0.7%.</p>
<p>This comes after a wave of international PMI reports signaled that the world economy was still growing.</p>
<p>Geopolitical concerns have also receded a bit as any military response on Syria seems be delayed at the least.</p>

Stocks Are Surging After The Long Weekend

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image"></div><p></p></div></div>Stocks are higher ahead of the long Labor Day weekend, as the market has rebounded after turning negative earlier on Friday.</p>
<p>The Dow is up 12 points, the S&amp;P 500 is up 5 points, and the Nasdaq is up 21 points.</p>
<p>The latest <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/personal-income-and-outlays-august-29-2014-8">personal income and outlays report</a> from the BEA was released Friday morning, which showed that personal spending fell unexpectedly in July. Personal spending fell 0.1% in July, which compares to expectations for spending to rise 0.2%. </p>
<p>The income and outlays report also contained the latest read on personal consumption expenditures, or PCE, the Fed's preferred measure of inflation. "Core" PCE, which excludes the more volatiles costs of food and energy, rose 1.5% year-over-year in July.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/chicago-pmi-august-29-2014-8">August Chicago PMI</a> report came in at 64.3, blowing away expectations for a 56.5 reading, and up from July's disappointing 52.6. This rebound erased the sharp decline in July, but Ian Shepherdson at Pantheon Macroeconomics said of the report, "The index is not, however, a reliable short-term indicator of the overall state of manufacturing across the country as a whole."</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/u-michigan-consumer-confidence-2014-8">University of Michigan's consumer confidence</a> survey jumped to a seven-year high of 82.5 in August, topping expectations for a reading of 80.0. "Overall, consumer confidence remains in the relatively tight range it has occupied this year and is consistent with continued moderate growth in consumer spending," said Dean Maki at Barclays. </p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/russian-ruble-gets-slammed-2014-8">Russian ruble continued to slide</a> against the dollar, with one U.S. dollar buying around 37 rubles, up from 34 in June, bringing the ruble's decline in the last few months to around 8%. The decline follows the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/ukrainian-president-russian-troops-are-advancing-in-ukraine-2014-8">recent escalation </a>of the situation in Eastern Ukraine. </p>
<p>And as a friendly reminder, markets in the U.S. will be closed on Monday in observation of the Labor Day holiday.</p>

Stocks Are Higher Ahead Of The Long Weekend

<br /> With a long weekend coming up, Indians have already packed their bags and ready to hit the road. According to <keyword id="143718" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yatra-com">Yatra.com</keyword>, one of the leading travel booking sites, the website has recorded a whopping 200% rise in bookings for weekend getaways over last year.<br />

	“This year has seen a number of long weekends that has impacted travellers' behaviour. People are now looking to take frequent but shorter breaks rather than one long break in a year. These long weekend trips are not only rejuvenating but also light on pocket and range from anything between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 per person for domestic destinations and Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per person for international ones,” said Sharat Dhall, President-Yatra.com.<br />

	A survey done by Yatra has revealed that among domestic destinations in North, Jammu has seen a 65% rise in growth of flights week-on-week while hotel bookings have gone up by a substantial 212% every week. Jim Corbett, the perfect place to mingle with wildlife, has witnessed 230% increase in its hotel bookings. While traditional tourist places such as Jaipur and Shimla have recorded 250% and 241% rise in its hotel booking week on week.<br />

	Similarly, down south, Coorg in Karnataka has witnessed a mind-boggling 275% rise in the hotel bookings while flight bookings for Tirupati and Pondicherry has gone up by 98% and 125% respectively. The hotel booking for these two places have witnessed a growth of 226% and 298% respectively.<br />
	<br /> However, it is not just the Northern and Southern tourist destinations that are attracting travellers. Destinations such as <keyword id="826" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goa">Goa</keyword>, Mahabaleswar and Shirdi in the West and Puri, Darjeeling, Kolkata and Gangtok in the East will also be flocked by travellers.<br />

	Among the Eastern heavens, the flight booking for Bhubaneshwar for Puri has gone up by 30% while for Bagdogra to reach Darjeeling and Gangtok has grown by 66%. Kolkata has recorded a 112% rise in its flight bookings. On the other hand, the hotel booking for Puri has witnessed a surge by 109%, Darjeeling by 220%, Kolkata and Gangtok by 185% and 224% respectively.<br />

	While on the Western side, casino haven Goa tops the list with 135% surge in flight bookings and 312% rise in the hotel bookings. This is followed by religious places such as Shirdi and Mahabaleshwar with 176% and 122% surge in the hotel bookings. The flight bookings for Shirdi have increased by 85%.<br />
	<br /> It isn’t just domestic destinations that are raking in the moolah. Foreign locales too have been thronged by Indians. The hotel bookings for Thailand have risen by 77% while <keyword id="6356662" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Singapore">Singapore</keyword> has registered a growth of 69%. Similarly, Dubai has witnessed an increase by 82% in the hotel bookings while <keyword id="8695" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Malaysia">Malaysia</keyword> has seen a 47% rise in the same. <br />

The Indian <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="Orion">rupee</keyword> and the government bond yield ended almost flat on Friday as most traders remained on the sidelines ahead of the long weekend.<br /><br />At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee ended at 79.66 against the US dollar, as against 79.64 at the close of the previous trading session.<br /><br />The 10-year benchmark 6.54 per cent-2032 bond yield ended at 7.2894 per cent, marginally higher than 7.2673 per cent close on the previous trading session.<br /><br />"Looking at the long holiday ahead, there may have been lot of short term USD demand, pushing the USD-INR pair higher.
