A Delhi Metro employee said he had to spend more time walking to the operational gate of the GTB Nagar metro station as the other gates were closed. "The gate nearer to my residence is closed. So, had to walk to gate number 5 which took extra 10 minutes," he said. However, the journey remained smooth right from entering the metro premises to boarding the train and exiting the station at the destination, he added. Jyotsna Singh, 28, who travelled from HUDA City Centre station to Central Secretariat station, said she usually exits from gate number 1, but it was closed this time. "I had to take a detour and exit through gate number 3, which took 5-7 minutes extra. I was prepared for such minor delays considering the situation," she said. Singh, who works at Shashtri Bhawan, said metro travel costs her just Rs 50 compared to Rs 350-400 spent on cab. Saurabh Roy, who boarded the metro from Jor Bagh and got down at Patel Chowk, said he entered from gate number 1 near the Lodhi Gardens. "It didn't make any sense travelling 15 minutes by foot for an 11-minute journey. Anyone facing such problems will give priority to personal vehicles over the metro," he said. The Delhi Metro resumed services in a graded manner on Monday, with elaborate measures for crowd management and ensuring hygiene to check the spread of the virus. The Yellow Line connecting Samaypur Badli and HUDA City Centre in Gurgaon was the first one to be opened. The services resumed at 7 am with strict safety and social distancing measures in place. The trains will operate in batches of four-hour each from 7-11 am in the morning and 4-8 pm in the evening. A number of passengers faced difficulty buying new smart cards or getting them recharged through cashless modes due to network issues. At a few stations, such as Central Secretariat, Chawri Bazar, and Chandni Chowk, passengers said there were hiccups while making payments for new smart cards or recharging them online due to non-availability of mobile network on the station premises. Luckshay Gupta, 28, said issues in online payment caused a minor delay during his travel from Chandni Chowk to Race Course. Rohini Bansal, 25, said she tried getting her smart card recharged online but it could not be done due to network issues. "Money got deducted from my account, but the transaction failed. I waited for 15-20 minutes at Central Secretariat metro station before I left the premises and took an auto to work," she said. All the state government's have been told to implement the new midday meal policy which includes milk. Earlier, the then HRD Ministry had revised its midday meal policy in 2016. In order to give better quality food to children in schools where midday meals are provided, the HRD has revised its norms, that include milk as a necessary supplement. WCD Minister <keyword id="6612" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Smriti-Irani">Smriti Irani</keyword> on Monday assured Vice-President <keyword id="8563926" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="m-venkaiah">M Venkaiah</keyword> Naidu that the central government would consider recommending to all the states to "include milk in the midday meal scheme". Irani's assurance came after Naidu earlier in the day suggested to her to add milk in breakfast or midday meals of children to improve nutritional level. The Vice President spoke with Irani on the 3rd Rashtriya Poshan Maah aimed at contributing towards a malnutrition-free India. An official in the Education Ministry told IANS that all students from Classes 1 to 8 in all government schools will be given 200 ml milk every day along with the midday meals. As per the official, this policy as is similar to the one issued in 2016 and then HRD Ministry direction to states in 2018 in which many loopholes were reported in its implementation. The states were earlier also directed to include milk and milk products in the midday meals so that these items could be procured from cooperative milk unions or federations. The Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Department also took up the issue with the state Chief Secretaries on December 15, 2017, requesting them to consider supplying milk and milk products through their network under midday meals scheme of the Centre. Karnataka, <keyword id="6355554" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madhya-Pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</keyword>, Haryana, Puducherry, and Gujarat have confirmed supply of milk through schools but some states with higher surplus stocks of milk powder like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab are yet to decide in this regard. Almost two decades have passed since the midday meal became a part of the daily routine in government schools across the country. The central government had received complaints earlier on about inclusion of milk in midday meals. As per government norms, every child should receive 150-200 ml milk. However, there have been complaints that one litre of milk was mixed in a bucketful of water to serve to more than 80 children in a school in rural Uttar Pradesh. Before she could rule it out as a nightmare, she heard her mother-in-law Surekha Patra ask “'Children, am I audible?” While Ankita counted her blessings and tried to get back to sleep, Surekha was in the other room, handling a crisis of her own ⁠— 40 students logged in for online school. The pandemic has changed the school experience for teachers, students, and parents. This is being called the ‘new normal’ and not everything about it is right. To start with, the acoustics of an online classroom are different Senior school teacher Surekha Patra shared that most of the time she’s stuck doing a balancing act between students who are on mute and those who aren’t. Cars honking outside schools have now been replaced by clacking utensils, parents bickering in the background, and sabziwaalas (vegetable vendors) hawking outside the window. The teachers had to learn new things first For hundreds of teachers across the country, the lockdown didn’t just mean they were stuck inside their homes, it also meant they had to suddenly learn all about ‘Zoom classes’ and online learning. Teachers, who have been used to the blackboard and chalk all their lives, now had to create excel sheets and learn to ‘share screen’. From makeshift tables to adjusting the phone over a stack of books, so that the students can see the blackboard at home, teachers aren’t just teaching but also relearning the ‘how tos’. In fact, many started borrowing the selfie sticks and tripods of their kids and set them up in front of a blackboard at home in a typical Indian jugaad. The teacher’s dilemma – sleepy, hungry children on screen For Leena Mishra, a primary school teacher, the problems weren’t just about learning new skills. It was also to hold the naughty children’s attention. “Unlike the scenario in a physical classroom, students during virtual classes keep moving in and out as if playing a game,” she told Business Insider. “After struggling for a while, I was finally able to 'share my screen' with my students to show them the revision questions. But as soon as I did, the talented students left no chance of exhibiting their skills in painting on the screen. Starting from doremon to Mickey mouse, every cartoon was drawn in different colours on my screen,” she said. Meanwhile, as students can’t raise hands in class, now the ping of Zoom’s ‘raise hands’ feature is how Patra knows that students have a doubt. To make sure students are paying attention, she now takes up names randomly to answer questions. But then, every question asked by the teacher is now followed by a long queue of “yes ma’ams”. Enough for any teacher to wish she hadn’t asked the question in the first place. However, for Mishra, this experience has brought with it a big bag of jokes and many embarrassing moments. She has heard one of her students scream, “Mummy, give pasta!!”, while in another case, a grandfather wrapped in just a traditional lungi sat next to his grandson peeping into the screen with amazement. The horror – peeking parents A curious student is what a teacher wishes for but what they get in online education is nosy parents. Online learning meant the child was home and the parent whose visit was best reserved for a parent teachers meeting, is now right next to the child peering into the screen. When her eight-year old son is studying online, Mansi, a working professional, can hear another parent nudging the child, “Why don’t you give the answer to that question?” While Mansi is happy that her son’s school has streamlined homework, she has heard fellow parents complain about endless activities that the schools organise to keep the students engaged. These are stories from places with reasonably good access to fast internet and from people who have smartphones. For the rest, the experience could be far more traumatic, if at all, they have any access to online education. The pandemic has not just brought technology into schools. It has also changed what it means to be a teacher and a student. It is not bound with any government rather it is attached with the aspirations of the country.</li><li>Our responsibility is to promote technological solutions at every university and college.</li><li>We will encourage healthy competition among universities using this policy and will also reward institutions.</li><li>I urge you to conduct as many virtual conferences about NEP before to aware people.</li></ul>Here are the highlights from President Kovind's speech: <ul><li>The National Education Policy has been formulated after an unprecedented and lengthy process of consultations. </li><li>I am told that in the formulation of this policy, more than 2,02,500 lakh gram panchayats, more than 2,500 local bodies and more than two lakh suggestions received from about 675 districts have been taken into consideration.</li><li>The National Education Policy will be able to take the people, especially the youth, in accordance with the needs and aspirations of the twenty-first century.</li><li>It is not only a policy document, but a reflection of the aspirations of the learners and citizens of India.</li><li>From the 1968 education policy to this education policy, it has been made clear in one voice that the central and state governments should jointly aim for 6% investment of GDP in the field of public education. This education policy of 2020 recommends reaching this goal quickly.</li><li>It has been emphasized in the new education policy that we all have to develop a modern education system based on Indian life-values. At the same time, we have to try that everyone should get education with high quality and a vibrant and equal knowledge society should be created.</li><li>Through education, we have to create such students who are filled with national pride as well as a sense of world welfare and can become a global citizen in the true sense.</li><li>Teachers will have a central role in the fundamental changes being made in the education system. It has been made clear in this education policy that the most promising people in the teaching profession should be selected and their livelihood, dignity and autonomy should be ensured.</li><li>In this context, there is a provision for starting educationally sound, multi-disciplinary and integrated teachers education programs. By the year 2030, only high-level institutions will remain active in this area.</li><li>The goal is to create a new and comprehensive curriculum of teachers education, based on this education policy, by 2021, to give a strong foundation to school education. Teacher's education is a part of higher education. Therefore, at the state level, all of you have to achieve the most important goals related to teachers' education.</li><li>In view of the need to accelerate the spread of vocational education in India, it has been decided that at least 50% of the students will be provided vocational education by the year 2025 in the school and higher education system.</li><li>According to the 12th Five-Year Plan assessment, less than 5% of the workforce in India received formal vocational education. This number was 52% in the United States, 75% in Germany and 96% in South Korea.</li><li>It has been made clear in this policy that vocational education will be considered as a part of mainstream education and such education will be given equal respect. This will lead to skill enhancement in children and youth as well as a sense of respect for the dignity of labor.</li><li>Promotion of Indian languages, arts and culture has been given special importance in the National Education Policy because they are important for India's identity as well as our economy.</li><li>Quality higher educational institutions are to be set up in Aspirational Districts and Special Educational Zones. This will be an important step in the interest of socially and economically disadvantaged groups.</li><li>The goal is to provide at least one large multi-disciplinary higher education institution in or near each district by 2030 for higher education in deprived areas. For this, many steps will have to be taken at the state level. </li><li>To give impetus to a large and vibrant economy like India, it is necessary to encourage 'knowledge-creation' and research. The central and state governments will have to increase the percentage of investment in research and innovation.</li><li>It has been observed that the level of investment in research and innovation is 2.8% of GDP in the US, 4.2% in South Korea and 4.3% in Israel while in India it is only 0.7%.</li><li>A National Research Foundation will be established to inspire quality academic research in all fields. To strengthen the culture of research, all universities and higher education institutions will have to work with the National Research Foundation. </li><li>The use and integration of technology will accelerate learning process improvement and yield better results. For this, the National Educational Technology Forum - NETF. Will be established. Ntef The state government agencies will also provide consultation.</li><li>The success of the National Education Policy will depend on the effective contribution of both the Center and the State. Education is the subject of the concurrent list under the Indian Constitution. It’s not the first time that there has been a huge recent outcry over brand ambassadors and the ‘increased reasonability’ they should take up. The latest has been about the overt lead and MSG content found in Nestlé’s Maggi noodles and the stars involved in its advertisements. 
 
Bollywood biggies Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preiti Zinta have cases filed against them under Indian Penal Code Sections 270 (act likely to spread dangerous disease), 273 (sale of toxic food or drinks), 276 (sale of drug as a different mixture) and 420 (cheating).

Although it is not a box office hit, the recently released Gulaab Gang, starring Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla, is said to be inspired by Sampat Pal Devi and her Gulabi Gang, a group of Indian women vigilantes and activists. Another biopic based on Olympic medallist Mary Kom is coming up soon and promises to make waves. But before that, let us take a look at some of the most popular movies inspired by real life. 
 
1. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag One of the biggest hits of 2013 starring <keyword id="5015" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Farhan-Akhtar">Farhan Akhtar</keyword>, this is a biopic of Milkha Singh, the Flying Sikh of India. The flick goes beyond the obvious and highlights the lesser-known facts of the legendary athlete’s life, thus introducing the Indian sports hero to the Gen Y. Farhan is spectacular in his role while Milkha Singh has sold the rights of the movie for Re 1. 2. The Attacks of 26/11 
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, this docudrama is based on the gory Mumbai attacks of 2008. The movie focuses on the series of events that took place on this fateful day. The movie revolves around the terrorist attacks and Ajmal Kasab, the prime radical, who was caught. RGV relies on police statements, eyewitnesses and the court evidence to bring in a pretty close presentation of reality. 
 
3. Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara 
A sequel to 2010’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, the movie is inspired by the animosity between gangsters Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Rajan. Despite a lot of hype, this gangster saga turned out to be a flop. Akshay Kumar, <keyword id="14676" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Imran-Khan">Imran Khan</keyword> and Sonakshi Sinha played lead roles in the film. 
 
4. The Dirty Picture 
Starring Vidya Balan, this one is a biopic of the southern sex siren, Silk Smitha, and offers a heavy dose of entertainment. Vidya has done an admirable job here and played a perfect seductress. She did her best to get into the skin of the character, which also required her to put on oodles of flab. 
 
5. Special 26 Starring Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher, this film was inspired by a real life incident that took place in Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazaar in 1987. In the movie, a group on conmen posing as CBI officers executes a daylight income tax raid. The film also stars <keyword id="7637" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Manoj-Bajpayee">Manoj Bajpayee</keyword> and Jimmy Shergill, and has won plenty of critical acclaim. 
 
6. Paan Singh Tomar 
Another gem of a movie starring Irrfan Khan. This is a biopic of an athlete, Paan Singh Tomar, who was employed with the Indian Armed Forces. The film weaves the real life incidents that forced Paan Singh to quit the defence services and his dream of becoming an internationally acclaimed athlete, and take to guns instead. 
 
7. Satyagraha – Democracy Under Fire A political thriller starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor, this flick is loosely based on <keyword id="57766" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Anna-Hazare">Anna Hazare</keyword>’s fight against corruption. While Big B plays the role of Anna, Kareena’s character is inspired by the international journalist, Christian Amanpour. 
 
8. No One Killed Jessica This political crime thriller is a screen adaptation of the much publicised <keyword id="14009" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Jessica-Lal">Jessica Lal</keyword> murder case. While Vidya Balan plays Jessica’s elder sister, Rani Mukherjee is the spunky news reporter. The film has been widely appreciated for making the point quite poignantly and has bagged many prestigious awards. 
 
9. Not a Love Story 
This film starring Mahie Gill and Deepak Dobriyal is based on the ghastly murder of Neeraj Grover that led to the arrest of Maria Susairaj and M.L. Jerome. Director Ram Gopal Varma shot the movie in just 20 days at Dheeraj Solitaire building, which is the prime location of the incident. 
 
10. Guru 
It has not been stated officially but Guru, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, takes inspiration from the life and times of India’s celebrated business tycoon, <keyword id="6418409" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Dhirubhai-Ambani">Dhirubhai Ambani</keyword>. It portrays the journey of an ordinary man growing up to become one of the most powerful businessmen, with absolute faith in his dreams.
