In FY2016, Nazara has claimed to have generated Rs 220 crore in revenues and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Paytm-sees-over-435-increase-in-traffic-since-yesterday/articleshow/55334259.cms">has clocked 35 million visitors. </a> 
 
Mittersain believes in the product and being frugal, and that is why his company has been profitable since 2008. He signs off by saying that he hopes that internet penetration in India increases so that the upcoming sectors like gaming can grow further.

New Delhi, <keyword id="18648559" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="online-gaming-and-sports-company" source="Orion">Online gaming and sports company</keyword> Nazara Technologies on Monday said it plans to raise Rs 100 crore from <keyword id="18647120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kamath-Associates" source="Orion">Kamath Associates</keyword> and <keyword id="18647121" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NKSquared" source="Orion">NKSquared</keyword> to meet growth and funding requirements. In its board meeting held on September 4, Nazara approved a proposal for issuance of 7,00,280 preferential shares each to Kamath Associates and NKSquared valued at Rs 99.99 crore, a regulatory filing said. "Nikhil Kamath symbolizes success in India's tech arena, and this fund raise holds immense value for us at Nazara as we continue to build a diversified gaming platform in India. Beyond the funds raised, his investment stands as a resounding vote of confidence in Nazara," Nazara Technologies CEO Nitish Mittersain said in a statement. The funds will be used for making strategic acquisitions and investments in various companies, meeting growth and funding requirements of its subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures etc, the filing said. "Gaming in India is poised for strong growth in the years to come and Nazara has built a well-diversified, profitable gaming platform well suited to take advantage of opportunities in the years ahead. We look forward to supporting Nitish and his team in achieving their growth aspirations for Nazara," Kamath Associates and NKSquared partner Nikhil Kamath said.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Nazara Tech invests $2.5 million in US-based game fund Bitkraft as it looks to expand its presence beyond India

It also helps that the company is backed by ace stock market guru Rakesh Jhunjhunwaala. The stock market expert holds 11.38% shares in the company. Analysts too have been bullish about the technology company’s market debut and the potential in the Indian gaming industry. “The gaming industry is set to witness over 30% CAGR (compound annual growth rate) over 2020-2023 (estimated) on the back of high mobile penetration, increasing internet penetration and increasing number of gamers. Nazara has a widespread presence both in terms of geography and product portfolio which offers strong growth visibility,” said a report by Aditya Birla Capital. Ahead of Nazara Technologies’ IPO, the CEO says its public listing will put Indian gaming on the world map

Nazara holds the license mobile gaming rights of popular cartoon characters like Chhota Bheem, Motu Patlu and Shikari Shambhu. It has also established itself in 64 countries across Africa, Middle East, South East Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. The public issue will see a sale of 4.96 million equity shares by Nazara’s promoters and investors. This year, Nazara’s <keyword id="3128913" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO-debut">IPO debut</keyword> could kick off a series of tech IPOs in the country as startups like Zomato, Nykaa, Delhivery are headed for the public markets. The Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Nazara had first filed the DRHP in January 2018 and had even got approval from SEBI for an IPO (Initial Public Offering). However it didn’t go ahead with the launch because of a <a href="https://inc42.com/buzz/post-sportskeeda-acquisition-nazara-technologies-looks-at-ipo-in-2020/">market slump. </a> The company has been preparing for its market debut with acquisitions and funding in its kitty. <ul><li><keyword id="6357332" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gaming">Gaming</keyword> company <keyword id="125145" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nazara-Technologies">Nazara technologies</keyword> acquires a 51% stake in Paper Boat Apps, a Mumbai-based indie studio.</li><li>Paper Boat Apps is the publisher of Kiddopia.</li><li>Kiddopia is an edutainment app which has over 2.5 million downloads and 100,000 paying users. </li></ul>Indian gaming company Nazara technologies acquired a 51% stake in Paper Boat Apps, a Mumbai-based indie studio. Nazara has invested ₹83.5 crores for the deal. Paper Boat Apps is the publisher of Kiddopia, an edutainment app which has over 2.5 million downloads and 100,000 paying users. “Kiddopia addresses the concern where young children are found to consume digital content through their parent’s devices. Kiddopia offers a positive alternative while bringing high quality, curated educational content packaged within an entertaining framework that keeps both kids healthy and parents happy. Kiddopia will be leveraged to over 100 million users through the Nazara network,” Nitish Mittersain, founder and MD, Nazara Technologies said. But this acquisition is only one of the series of investments by Nazara this year. In September 2019, Nazara acquired majority stake in Sports Unity, the creator of multiplayer quiz called Qunami, for ₹7.5 crore. In August, Nazara also bought 67% stake in Sportskeeda for ₹44 crore. In May, Nazara invested in local languages gaming platform Bakbuck. It had also bet on a fantasy gaming platform Halaplay with an investment of ₹40 crores in March. Nazara also holds the license mobile gaming rights of popular cartoon characters like Chhota Bheem, Motu Patlu, Shikari Shambhu. It has also established itself in 64 countries across Africa, Middle East, South East Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. Nazara is also gearing up to go for an IPO.
