Mumbai, Renowned film art director <keyword id="194218" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nitin-desai" source="Orion">Nitin Desai</keyword>, who created sets for blockbuster films such as "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" and "Lagaan", was found hanging on Wednesday at his studio in Maharashtra's Raigad district neighbouring Mumbai, a senior police official said. Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide, the official said, adding they are investigating the case from all angles. "Desai's body was found hanging with a rope in the morning at the N D Studios," Raigad Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge said. The studio is located in the Karjat area of Raigad, about 50 km from Mumbai. After being alerted, police rushed to the spot, the official said. The police are investigating the case from all possible angles, Gharge said. Desai, who was in his late 50s, served as art director and production designer for a number of Bollywood and Marathi movies. He was also known for his art work in films such as "Jodhaa Akbar" and "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo". The art director's death sent shock waves across the industry with film personalities such as Hema Malini, Riteish Deshmukh, Siddhartha Basu, and Neil Nitin Mukesh mourning Desai's passing. Actor-politician Hema Malini said Desai's death was a "terrible loss" to the film industry. "Such a warm human being, associated with many of my projects and ballets... May he find peace wherever he is," she tweeted. Neil said it is difficult to accept the heartbreaking news of Desai's death. The late art director worked on "Jail", the 2009 film starring the actor. "Our beloved #nitindesai has left for his heavenly abode. He was simply a genius. A visionary artist with grace, style who understood not just his craft but people. He was a positive soul who spread only love to all. My God give his family strength. Om Shanti," he wrote on the microblogging site. Basu, who worked with Desai on popular reality shows such as "Kaun Banega Crorepati" and "Dus Ka Dum", said he was shocked to hear about the passing of his "friend and artistic collaborator". "He made sets for so many of our shows - KBC, Kamzor Kadi, Heartbeat, Bluffmaster, Dus ka Dum, Sach ka Saamna.. Conjuring world class installations on an industrial scale. Om shanti," Basu wrote on Twitter, which was recently rebranded as X. 	This task force will be headed and chaired by Gadkari. Former IT secretary for Andhra Pradesh Sanjay Jaju, partner at Ekam Consulting Abhijit Purushottam Desai, Prashant Pole who is a director at Disha Consultants, and Girish Srivastava, a policy and strategy consultant are also the part of this task force.
 

	This new team will work on new strategies under a four-year plan, people familiar with the developments informed ET. They further said that the second meeting of the group is slated to be held in the first week of April, adding that the first meeting was on March 9.
 

	According to Jaju, who is director of National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation, "We are building an enterprise architecture and architecture for the ministry to bring together all these disparate projects in a unified form. Certain new initiatives are also planned."
 

	Requesting anonymity, the third person told ET, "The task force's main agenda of the task force is to make sure that all IT initiatives are put under a proper governance mechanism and there is synergy between the various components."
 

	"Two main things that are being worked upon right now are INAMPRO and PACE (Project Appraisal and Continuing Enhancements) - it is an MIS system for roads and highways." Jaju told ET.

Desai, 50, suffered severe <keyword id="141908" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="brain-haemorrhage" source="Orion">brain haemorrhage</keyword> after falling on a hard surface while going for a walk outside his residence on the evening of October 15, the official said. "Desai fell and suffered a brain haemorrhage, and fainted. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital, and from there to another hospital where he underwent brain surgery. He was kept under observation, and breathed his last at around 7 pm on Sunday," said the company official who is close to the Desai family. Another official said Desai fell while trying to escape from stray dogs when out on an evening walk. Desai was one of the two executive directors on the board of the Ahmedabad-based tea group, the other being <keyword id="1904588" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="paras-desai" source="Orion">Paras Desai</keyword>. Parag Desai was the son of Managing Director Rasesh Desai. He had done his MBA from Long Island University in the USA. He spearheaded sales, marketing and export departments for the group and was an expert tea tester and evaluator. Thackeray is heading a coalition government, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), whose main constituents are the Sena, the Congress and the NCP. <keyword id="6360285" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="chhagan-bhujbal">Chhagan Bhujbal</keyword>, Jayant Patil (both from the NCP), Balasaheb Thorat and Nitin Raut (both from the Congress), Eknath Shinde and Subhash Desai (both from the Sena) took oath as ministers along with Thackeray. Chhagan Bhujbal: Bhujbal (72) is a veteran figure in Maharashtra politics, who has the rare distinction of being associated with all the three major non-BJP parties in the state. A senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Bhujbal had been a member of both the Shiv Sena and the Congress at different times. Taking over as a minister is a sort of revival of his political fortunes after spending two years in jail since March 2016 in a money laundering case when the BJP-led government was in power. Bhujbal, who represents the OBC community, cut his political teeth in the Shiv Sena. He served as the Mayor of Mumbai, a Sena bastion, two times - 1985-86 and 1990-91. He quit the Sena in 1991, causing quite a stir in state politics, and joined the Congress. Bhujbal resigned from the Congress in 1999 and sided with Sharad Pawar who formed the NCP the same year. He became deputy chief minister in December 2008 and held key portfolios such as home affairs and public works in the Congress-NCP government. Jayant Patil: Jayant Patil (57) is perceived as a leader with a clean image. He took charge of the NCP's Maharashtra unit replacing Sunil Tatkare in April 2018, ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha and state Assembly polls. The NCP retained its tally in the 2019 April Lok Sabha election and fared better in the October Assembly polls, but the credit largely went to his boss, Pawar. Being part of a motley alliance of once-rival and ideologically divergent parties, Patil, known for composed demeanour, will be one of the key leaders who will be seen doing the trapeze act to ensure the three-party government sustains. Patil, son of well-known Maharashtra leader the late Rajaram Patil, held key portfolios like finance, home and rural development from 1999 to 2014 when the Congress-NCP combine ruled the state. Eknath Shinde: Shinde (55) is the most prominent face of the Sena in the adjoining Thane city from where has been elected consecutively four terms to the assembly. Considered a troubleshooter in the Sena, Shinde was the PWD minister in the previous BJP-led government (2014-19. Subhash Desai: One of the confidants of Uddhav Thackeray, Desai (77) is currently an MLC. The senior-most member of the cabinet had been a member of the assembly three times. Now serving his third term in the upper house of the legislature, Desai was the industries minister in the 2014-19 BJP-Sena government. Balasaheb Thorat: Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat (66) took charge of the party's state unit at a difficult time. When Thorat became the Maharashtra Congress chief in July this year, the party was already staring down the barrel after its Lok Sabha poll debacle in the state, once its citadel. It could win only one seat in the general election and was relegated to inferior position than its ally, the NCP. The Congress (44) though fared better in the Assembly elections, winning two more seats than its 2014 tally. The result may not be satisfactory for the party, which led the state several times in the past, a trusted lieutenant of the party's central leadership, Thorat ensured proper co-ordination in the state unit hit by factionalism. Thorat, known for maintaining a low profile, was first elected as an MLA from Sangamner in 1985 as an independent. In 1990, he contested Assembly poll on a Congress ticket and this is his eighth term as a legislator. He became a minister of state in 1999 and was promoted as a cabinet minister in 2004. The Congress legislature party leader has held revenue, agriculture, water conservation and protocol portfolios in the past. Nitin Raut: A key leader of the Congress from its erstwhile bastion of Vidarbha in eastern Maharashtra, Raut (62) is a four-term MLA. He is national chairman of the Congress's Scheduled Caste department and one of the working presidents of the party in Maharashtra. Hailing from Nagpur, Raut, too, comes with past experience in government. He has held animal husbandry, employment guarantee and water conservation departments so far.

New Delhi, Jan 21 () The CBI has booked Mumbai-based Frost International, its directors Uday Desai and Sujay Desai besides 11 other individuals and companies for allegedly cheating a consortium of 14 banks to the tune of over Rs 3,592 crore, officials said.
 The action has been taken on the complaint of Kanpur Zonal office of Bank of India, which alleged that the directors had worked in the guise of undertaking merchanting trade without genuine business, they said.
 It is alleged that they had defaulted in meeting payment obligation towards the lending banks of the consortium led by Bank of India, the officials said.
 The company and its directors, guarantors and unidentified others submitted forged documents, diverted and siphoned off the bank's funds, they said.
 The action of the company and its directors cheated the banks to the tune of over Rs 3,592.48 crore, they added.
 The banks had already secured Look out Circular against Uday Desai and 10 others on January 18, 2019. It was preceded by another LOC against Desai and 13 others on the request of Indian Overseas Bank, they said. ABS CK

<ul><li>Prabha Desai is the director of Sanmitra Trust, a voluntary trust that works on the ground level in Mumbai's second-largest slum — Malwani. </li><li>In an interview with Business Insider, Desai shed light on how having the right laws in place is an integral step towards fighting stigmas in society and ensuring identity. </li><li>Desai's has been a part of the advocacy to scrap <keyword id="6362797" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="section-377">Section 377</keyword>, fight Mumbai's HIV epidemic, and legalise dance bars in the city. </li></ul>It's not easy to spread hope in Mumbai's second-largest slum, Malwani. But, Prabha Desai is fighting against the stigmas to ensure employability and dignity of labour for women in the colony. On the ground, she works with female and floating sex workers, HIV+ children and women, and transgender individuals within the community. However, as the director of Sanmitra Trust, she's also done a lot of advocacy work — including decriminalising homosexuality by getting Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) scrapped and fighting against the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, which curtails the rights of sex workers in the country. "Final outcome is that we have a more inclusive society and sex is longer stigmatised, at least legally. Socially, it will take some time," Desai told Business Insider in an interview. Getting the law on your side Before 2017, Mumbai was engrossed in a battle against HIV with no laws in place to keep it in check. As an activist, Desai was able to participate in the process of bringing about the HIV Aids Act through a lawyer's collective. With a concrete law in place, she could now work with the police more effectively to remove the taboo around HIV. "Law creates an enabling environment on paper… In the last ten years, we have worked with the police for AIDS control and made them aware that we're not doing illegal things — we're not doing wrong things. First, remove the bias from your mind," she said. Now, every police station in Desai's community cooperates with her, but that's largely thanks to the putting concrete laws in place to strengthen her argument. People have also come to the realisation that the fight against AIDS isn't a one-person task but something for which the community needs to rally together. "Things are moving now. If law is not your side — on the side of these people who are facing discrimination and isolation — then there are so many problems. The biggest obstacles are over," she remarked. Women taking charge Having the right laws in place helps isolated women in society have an identity. Desai has worked with lawyers to legalise dance bars in Mumbai and scrap Section 377 to ensure to create a more inclusive society. "We fought against the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. We participated and demanded that it should be decriminalised and it shouldn't be an offence. Women should not be punished," she said. However, that's only one part of the problem. The second is making sure that these women have other options — a way to participate in the economy and be financially independent, by having access to opportunity. In service of that goal, Desai set up an alternative trade skill training centre. Now, she's in the process of launching her own mega-textile cluster for tannery operations with 500 women on board. Other changes have been happening on the ground as well. Women in Malwani are now looking to drive, have their own bank accounts — and know how to bank online. 52 women from the community got their licences last year, of whom four were HIV+. "In my area, now women wearing a burqa and going on scooty is common, nobody looks at them also," said Desai. There's still a long road ahead to fix all the problems that Malwani faces. The area has its own infrastructural problems — like lack of drainage and sanitation — which makes work twice as hard. But, with the law on their side, Desai feels things are going to improve even faster now.

You should understand how systems work together and how they impact the business."She suggests developing a unique understanding of technology and business principles, such as minoring in a business-oriented subject like financial accounting while majoring in computer sciences, or majoring in economics or strategic management while securing a CPA licensure or audit certification alongside cybersecurity and privacy law certifications.<h2>2. Seek out mentors</h2>Desai is a huge proponent of seeking out guidance from leaders in the field. She recommends that young women in their pre-collegiate years get involved with <a href="https://girlswhocode.com/">Girls Who Code</a>, while college students and young professionals should seek out mentorship from members of the <a href="https://www.ewf-usa.com/">Executive Women's Forum</a>.<h2>3. Take advantage of free online resources to strengthen your skillset</h2>With the pandemic even greater obstacles for women in the workforce, Desai encourages female professionals to take advantage of the increase in online educational resources available to the public.She recommends using time previously dedicated to the office commute to take courses through <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/learning">LinkedIn Learning</a>, the <a href="https://iapp.org/">International Association of Privacy Professionals</a>, AWS, OCI, and Microsoft.<h2>4. Create a more inclusive workplace through flexibility, understanding, and vital resources</h2>Finally, those women who are in leadership roles can instantly provide female team members with support by understanding the challenges women in the workforce face.This includes allowing female caretakers to work flexible hours, providing and promoting mental health resources for all employees, sponsoring women to elevate their <keyword id="6354910" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="careers">careers</keyword>, and providing access to career coaches."Don't lose women in the workforce when parenting happens just because society thinks that's what should happen," she said.

The <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/10-year-yield-hits-3-for-first-time-since-2014-2018-4-1022124700">benchmark yield topped 3% late in April</a> as investors considered that US interest rates and inflation were on the rise. And even now, Desai thinks investors may still be making jest of the level of inflation brewing in the US economy. While fair value on Treasurys could theoretically take the 10-year yield to 5% or 6%, the abundance of demand and liquidity would keep it more contained. It could rise "maybe above 4%," but certainly higher than where its current level just shy of 3%."While it is not going to be out of hand, it is going to be outside of the expectations of most investors," Desai said. "No attention is being paid to it, and more attention should be."Of course, the 10-year's climb to 3% and the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-a-stock-market-correction-2018-2">stock market's correction</a> in February prove that higher inflation is on Wall Street's radar. Yet, according to Desai, investors are downplaying the economy's potential to create the demand that drives inflation higher, even after this expansion entered a 107th month in May to become the second-longest ever. According to Desai, the economy's underappreciated potential is partly explained by its sluggish pace during this extended recovery, and the fact that it has grown at a rate of around 2%-2.5% - "disappointingly" above potential.Gross domestic product growth closer to 3%, such as we saw late last year, should become more common as fiscal stimulus accelerates the economy over the next three years into the cycle's end, Desai said. "I'm not making a call on whether this is a sustainably higher level of growth," she said. "But I do think over the next couple of years, people are significantly underestimating the ability of the US economy to surprise on the upside not just on GDP, but also on factors like inflation."Higher inflation would come from "usual suspects" like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/companies-confirm-wage-growth-in-earnings-calls-2018-3">wage growth</a> and companies raising prices, Desai said. The mysterious breakdown of the relationship between a low unemployment rate and higher wages - represented by the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/phillips-curve-us-japan-larry-hatheway-gam-2017-6">Phillips curve</a> - is one reason why she's left with little comfort that wages won't rise again. Desai doesn't shy away from the possibility that higher inflation could hurt some portfolios. Treasurys would further sell off, sending yields higher, while stocks could become more volatile. But the extent of the market disruption would depend on how inflation rises, she added. This episode of inflation could be more challenging for investors who, disarmed by years of easy monetary policy, have come to expect the Federal Reserve to intervene in rocky markets. But an even younger subset of investors could feel even more ambushed by the impact of rising inflation. "There is an entire generation of traders that has never actually traded in a world where inflation is going up, or US Treasurys are actually rising, or the central bank is consistently raising rates," she said. His award is "for services to Financial Services." In a statement emailed to Business Insider, Desai said: "I am honoured to have been awarded a CBE. This honour is testament to the hard work of the Funding Circle team who have helped originate £1.25 billion of loans from thousands of investors to small businesses in the last 5 years - creating over 50,000 new jobs globally."A CBE, short for Commander of the Order of the British Empire, is one of the <keyword id="6354868" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="UK">UK</keyword>'s most prestigious awards, and sits just one rung below a knighthood in the order of heraldry in the UK. Britain is honouring the founder of one its hottest fintech businesses

TiE Global, one of the world’s largest not-for-profit organization, announced the launch of <keyword id="8339747" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tie-women">TiE Women</keyword> to promote <keyword id="74945" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Women-Entrepreneurs">women entrepreneurs</keyword> across its 61 chapters globally. The initiative kick-started with a fundraise of $70,000 contributed by TiE Charter Members during the two-day event. Launching the initiative, Nitin Rai, Chairperson, TiE Global noted, ”I’m excited to see the launch of TiE Women. Women represent the greatest opportunity for our ecosystem to make a huge impact, globally. 50-50 gender parity will be the norm in the TiE Global ecosystem and not the exception.” The vision and goal of TiE Women is to “Embrace.Engage.Empower” women entrepreneurs across the globe – irrespective of the size, origin, interests, standing, and background, of the enterprise. This will be done through sustainable and easy-to-adopt programming that will track the entire entrepreneurial journey with measurable metrics. Highlighting the need for the program, she said, “We need to empower women by providing them a safe space. The bank has just <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/ipos/fpos/ujjivan-small-finance-bank-gets-sebis-go-ahead-for-rs-1200-crore-ipo/articleshow/71707806.cms">received </a>a nod from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to go ahead with an IPO. It plans to raise ₹1,200 crore from the public. According to reports, the bank had filed its request with the government body in August. The bank also released its <keyword id="56260" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q2-earnings">Q2 earnings</keyword> report which showed that it posted a profit of ₹93 crore. And, the profits jumped by 111%. "The quarter was good for us. The transition phase is over with most of our branches converting into the banking outlets. Our focus now is on growth," Ujjivan Financial Services' managing director and CEO, Ittira Davis, told PTI. In May 2019, the bank had roped in HDFC Bank's digital banking head Nitin Chugh as its managing director and CEO. In the same month, Flipkart founder Sachin Bansal too joined the bank as an independent director. With its parent company Ujjivan Financial Services, the bank started as a microfinance company but transformed into a small finance bank in 2017. It commenced operations with five pilot branches in Bengaluru. Today, it has over 180 branches across 20 states. Yet another bank which lends <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/bandhan-bank-stock-hits-upper-circuit-as-its-believed-to-enter-msci/articleshow/71536698.cms">to rural women</a>, Bandhan Bank too has taken large strides this month. The bank’s stock will be listed at MSCI index in New York, giving it access to international investors. This is a large feat for a five-year old bank, especially amidst a brewing crisis in the Indian banking sector.
