Equity Linked Savings Scheme (ELSS) is a tax-efficient investment option under Section 80 C, allowing up to ₹1.5 lakh in tax exemption. The drawback is a three-year lock-in period, but the scheme offers tax benefits and wealth creation. Despite the introduction of the newer tax regime, the ELSS is still valid since it provides attractive returns over the long-term (12-13% for a five, seven, and ten-year SIP period). ELSS offers two types: actively and passively managed funds, the former provides a long-term track record of the fund that works in various market cycles.
