<ul><li>Several vulnerabilities were discovered in <keyword id="6369515" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mediatek" source="Orion">MediaTek</keyword> chipsets.</li><li>These vulnerabilities could allow hackers to listen to users’ conversations and hide malicious codes.</li><li>While some issues were resolved last month, MediaTek plans to resolve them all by December and publish it in their Security Bulletin. </li></ul>Some security lapses have been identified in MediaTek’s chips, used in about <a href="https://www.statista.com/statistics/796887/smartphone-system-on-chip-market-share-by-vendor-worldwide/">37% of Android smartphones</a> globally, that could allow hackers to spy on Android users and hide malicious codes. According to the report published by <a href="https://research.checkpoint.com/2021/looking-for-vulnerabilities-in-mediatek-audio-dsp/">Check Point Research</a>, there are several vulnerabilities in the MediaTek chip’s audio processor that are accessible from the Android userspace. If these are left unpatched, hackers would be able to spy on Android users and hear their conversations while also being able to hide malicious codes. These vulnerabilities were addressed by MediaTek, as Tiger Hsu, its Product Security Officer, claimed that there was no evidence of exploitation via these vulnerabilities. It comes with a frosted glass back that gives it a premium look as most devices in this segment offer a plastic back. <div type="image" title="Rear" msid="101151518" hostid="261" sizebytes="55848" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Lava Agni 2 5G features a glass back&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Lava Agni 2 5G gives a premium feel when you hold it in your hand but the back can be a bit slippery. While the matte finish is able to prevent fingerprint smudges, I recommend using a case to get a better grip. It is to be noted that the Agni 2 5G weighs 210 grams and may feel bulky to some. One-handed usage may be difficult for extended durations, especially if you’re adding more weight by using a case. <div type="image" title="IMG_20230529_173822" msid="101151556" hostid="261" sizebytes="68302" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Rear camera module on the Lava Agni 2 5G&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The smartphone comes with a large circular camera module that houses the quad camera setup at the back. Apart from this, it comes with the Lava 5G branding at the bottom left corner. <div type="image" title="Side" msid="101151567" hostid="261" sizebytes="50876" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Volume rocker and the power button&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Coming to the sides, it comes with a plastic frame that is prone to scratches. While the left side is bare, the right side comes with the volume rockers and the power button. <div type="image" title="Bottom" msid="101151584" hostid="261" sizebytes="44416" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Lava Agni 2 5G bottom&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> On the top, the device comes with just a microphone. The bottom is equipped with a SIM tray, a microphone, the USB Type-C port and the speaker grille. <div type="image" title="Display" msid="101151680" hostid="261" sizebytes="72298" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Lava Agni 2 5G display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Display is another area where the Agni 2 impressed me. The device comes with a 6.78-inch Full HD+ curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 950 nits of peak brightness. It is one of the few devices in the segment that offers a curved AMOLED display in this segment. The other device is the recently launched<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/mobile/news/realme-11-pro-5g-review-a-mid-ranger-with-a-premium-design/articleshow/100865073.cms"> Realme 11 Pro 5G</a>. The smartphone’s display comes with HDR 10+ support and features thin bezels, making it a good option to watch content or play games. The high brightness also ensures proper visibility, even in direct sunlight. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software and performance" comment="subhead" text="Software and performance">Software and performance</cmsannotation> In terms of software, the Lava Agni 2 5G runs on Android 13 out of the box and the company has promised to offer two Android updates and three years of security updates. This means that the device will get the<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/mobile/news/android-14-update-to-rollout-soon-find-out-if-your-smartphone-is-eligible/articleshow/101125653.cms"> Android 14</a> and Android 15 updates. The device offers a near-stock experience and unlike a majority of devices in this segment, it comes with a bloat-free UI and does not come with any pre-installed applications. It was refreshing to not have to uninstall a slew of apps soon after booting up a device in this segment. While my experience with the device was good, the UI needs a little refinement to make it smooth. The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset and comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The chipset is able to handle day-to-day tasks with ease and can multitask without any issues. I played games like Battlegrounds Mobile India on the device and while the device did not stutter, it heats up a little after an extended gaming session. It is powered by a 4,700mAh battery coupled with 66W fast charging support. It takes around 45 minutes to fully charge the device and a full charge easily lasts for a day with normal usage and light gaming. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Camera" comment="subhead" text="Camera">Camera</cmsannotation> The Lava Agni 2 5G is equipped with a quad camera setup at the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. <div type="image" title="Camera" msid="101151688" hostid="261" sizebytes="41324" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Rear camera module on the Lava Agni 2 5G&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The device offers a simple camera UI and comes with options such as night mode, film, portrait, beauty, macro, time lapse, slow motion, pro mode and more. <div type="image" title="IMG_20230529_173512_947" msid="101151697" hostid="261" sizebytes="272170" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Image captured in daylight conditions&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The camera performs decently in daylight conditions, capturing good detail and dynamic range. The images captured using the ultra-wide sensor did not turn out as good and looked grainy. The device struggled a bit in low-light conditions but this is expected at this price point. On the front, the device comes with a 16MP selfie camera, which captures decent images in daylight but struggles in low-light conditions, just like the primary camera. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Lava Agni 2 5G is a good phone at this price point and punches above its weight. The glass back, clean software and immersive display make it a great option under the ₹25,000 segment. The average cameras and occasional software bugs are the biggest drawbacks of the device. Lava Agni 2 5G review – Decent performance, good design

<ul><li>Poco is reportedly planning four new smartphones from its X-series for next year.</li><li>There will be a Poco X4 (NFC), Poco X4 Pro, and Poco X4 GT.</li><li>Out of the four, Poco X4 and Poco X4 Pro are confirmed to launch in India.</li></ul>Poco hasn’t refreshed its X-series of smartphones with the last launch having taken place last year in September with the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/mobile/news/poco-x3-pro-mobile-vs-poco-f3-gt-mobile-comparison-of-price-and-specification/slidelist/85756659.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">Poco X3 Pro</a>. This year, Poco has been busy launching smartphones like the Poco M3 Pro 5G, Poco C31 and Poco F3 GT. But new reports suggest the company is preparing to launch a series of smartphones under its midrange X-series. Poco is planning to launch at least four X4 smartphones soon, and these phones would be available in India and in other countries, according to a<a href="https://www.91mobiles.com/hub/poco-x4-nfc-pro-gt-launch-timeline-exclusive/"> report</a> by 91mobiles. The lineup includes Poco X4, Poco X4 NFC, Poco X4 Pro and Poco X4 GT. The launch timelines for these phones have also been revealed. The <keyword id="12610791" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="poco-x4-nfc-smartphone" source="Orion">Poco X4 NFC smartphone</keyword> is said to launch in global markets in Q1 2022( January to March). In India, Poco is expected to launch the X4 but without NFC and this phone too will launch in Q1 2022. The Poco X4 GT will reportedly be exclusive only to global markets and won’t launch in India. There’s no word on this phone’s launch timeline as of yet. There’s also a Poco X4 Pro expected to launch, and this phone would succeed the Poco X3 Pro that launched in India earlier this year in March. Starting at ₹18,999, the Poco X3 Pro comes with a 120Hz display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor, a 48-megapixel quad-camera setup and a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone also packs a 5,160mAh battery and 33W fast charging support. As for the Poco X4 Pro, the phone is confirmed to be in the works but there are no details about when it would launch. But the report added that the Poco X4 Pro will arrive in India. It looks like Poco has quite a lot prepared for its midrange smartphone series with at least two of them confirmed for India. <ul><li><keyword id="1106616" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="truecaller" source="Orion">Truecaller</keyword> has announced new features for Android users.</li><li>It has introduced video caller ID, ghost calls, call recording for all and more.</li><li>Some of these features are exclusive only to its paid subscribers.</li></ul>Truecaller just announced a bunch of new updates for Android. The new updates include some existing Truecaller features now widely available along with the introduction of new ones. Truecaller’s announcement comes shortly after the company said it has reached 300 million monthly active users globally, and out of which 220 million users are from India alone. The caller ID app launched back in 2009 and it has since evolved from telling people who’s calling to easily blocking spam calls, finding contact details and more. Truecaller has launched video caller ID, ghost calls, and it has made call recording widely available on its Android app. The new features are available only for Android users. There is a Truecaller app on iOS but the features are limited due to Apple’s restrictions. Now let’s take a look at all the latest Truecaller features on Android. Video caller ID Truecaller now lets you create a video caller ID that will appear when you make calls to your contacts who are also on the app. You can record a short selfie video from your phone or you can choose from one of Truecaller templates which are basically generic videos. The video caller ID will only show on contacts who are also on Truecaller. Call recording Truecaller introduced call recording back in 2018 but it was exclusive only to paid users. Now all Truecaller users on Android can record calls from the app itself. You’ll have to turn this feature on by going to Settings &gt; Accessibility, and then tap the record button from the caller ID screen that appears when you receive or make a new call. <div type="image" title="img (3)" msid="87908592" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Truecaller&amp;#39;s new features for Android users.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Announce your calls This feature is exclusive to Truecaller Premium and Gold, its paid subscription services that are available at ₹49 monthly and ₹499 annually, and ₹5,000 annually for Gold. As the name suggests, this app announces your calls so you know who’s calling you. This feature is helpful for situations where you can’t get to the phone. It’s similar to how Siri’s call announcement feature works on iPhones. Ghost calls This is another feature available only for Truecaller Premium users. It lets you schedule a fake call in advance if you want to get out of certain situations. You can customise the details of the caller such as the name, number and profile picture. Truecaller also lets you choose from someone in your contact list for the fake call. New UI This is a small update that separates the calls and messages tabs. This feature has also made a return with requests from users, according to Truecaller. It gives a cleaner look to the Truecaller app and makes it easier for users to shuffle between calls and messages.
