But you can also download it on your iPhone, iPad, and Android.</p><p>On your computer, you'll play Teamfight Tactics using <a href="https://www.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the same League of Legends program</a> that we explained how to download above. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Esports, or professional video gaming, were an official sport at the Asian Games for the first time. </li><li>Players competed in games such as League of Legends, DOTA 2, and EA Sports FC Online.</li></ul><p>Esports, or competitive video gaming, debuted as an official event at this year's Asian Games in Hangzhou, China that concluded earlier this month.</p><p>Professional esports leagues and tournaments already sell out arenas and are streamed to millions of viewers online.</p><p>But its inclusion in the games, one of the world's largest sporting events, is the first time esports has appeared alongside traditional sports at a major competition.</p><p>In a custom-built 4,500-seat stadium fitted with giant screens, Asia's top gamers battled it out on titles including League of Legends (LoL), DOTA 2, and EA Sports FC Online.</p><p>Seven games were included in the event, with a gold medal awarded for each title. "The older the group, the less interested or even opposed to esports they are. In June the IOC held an esports event, <a target="_blank" href="https://olympics.com/ioc/esports-faq"><u>stating</u></a> it supported "the growth of virtual sports within the Olympic movement."</p><p>The Olympic Esports Series is "a global virtual and simulated sports competition created by the IOC, and in collaboration with International Federations and game publishers."</p><p>However, the event included 10 games such as sailing, archery, and cycling instead of fan favorites such as LoL, and was criticized for failing to reflect the true landscape of competitive esports.</p><p>Matt Woods, CEO of esports marketing and talent agency AFK, told <a target="_blank" href="https://www.theguardian.com/games/2023/mar/08/pushing-buttons-olympic-games-esports-competition">The Guardian</a> he questioned the IOC's decisions. "Instead of working with existing game publishers or well-established tournaments, it seems that the Olympic committee has instead decided to use this event as a marketing vehicle for brand-new, poorly thought out, unlicensed mobile games."</p><p>There's another complicating factor about including esports in competitions such as the Olympics.</p><p>Grant Rousseau of gaming organization Team Falcons told Insider: "Someone owns each and every sport in esports, and that's a very large difference compared to traditional sports. To bring all these different publishers together is extremely difficult. </p><p>"Handing over competitive control to a group under a 'traditional sport' design who, to be frank, don't understand esports to the depth they do, certainly isn't top of the IOC's list," he added. "We cannot forget that esports is very simply a marketing tool for the publishers."</p><p>Others argue that esports lack the physicality of traditional sports. While they "can't compare in physical prowess," Rousseau said they "certainly match traditional athletes in the form of dedicated training, mental focus, and sheer discipline."</p><p>Esports did not make the list of new events set to be included at the 2028 Games being held in Los Angeles. They include <span>baseball/softball, T20 cricket, flag football, lacrosse (sixes) and squash, the </span><a target="_blank" href="https://olympics.com/ioc/news/ioc-eb-puts-forward-la28-s-additional-sports-proposal-to-the-ioc-session"><span>IOC said</span></a><span> </span>on Friday. </p>

Video game developer <keyword id="2850099" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="riot-games" source="Orion">Riot Games</keyword> said that the source codes for its popular video games '<keyword id="1189548" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="league-of-legends" source="Orion">League of Legends</keyword>' and 'Teamfight Tactics', or <keyword id="134063" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tft" source="Orion">TFT</keyword>, were stolen in a recent cyber attack, alongside the code for one of its anti-cheat platforms.<br /><br />"Over the weekend, our analysis confirmed source code for <keyword id="1910" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="league" source="Orion">League</keyword>, TFT, and a legacy anticheat platform were exfiltrated by the attackers," the company tweeted.<br /><br />Earlier this week, <keyword id="6388598" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="riot" source="Orion">Riot</keyword> disclosed the breach as a "social engineering attack" on Twitter, assuring players that an update would be provided after an investigation.<br /><br />The video game developer also received a ransom email from attackers, which the company says it won't pay.<br /><br />Moreover, the company assured that no player data or personal information was compromised, but acknowledges that the source code obtained by the attacker could result in new cheats.<br /><br />"While this attack disrupted our build environment and could cause issues in the future, most importantly we remain confident that no player data or player personal information was compromised," tweeted Riot Games.<br /><br />"Truthfully, any exposure of source code can increase the likelihood of new cheats emerging. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div></p><ul class="summary-list"><li><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/nintendo">Nintendo</a>, a 100-plus-year-old Japanese company, is making a major play for the massive Chinese gaming market.</strong></li><li><strong>The Japanese gaming giant is teaming up with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/tencent">Tencent</a>, a Chinese conglomerate and the biggest game company in the world, to release the Nintendo Switch and some of its most popular games in China.</strong></li><li><strong>But Tencent's ambitions are bigger than partnership: The Chinese conglomerate wants to make its own games with Nintendo's wildly popular characters, and it wants to release those games in the United States and Europe.</strong></li><li><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/">Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.</a></strong></li></ul><p>After decades of being locked out of China, Nintendo is finally breaking in - albeit through the Chinese conglomerate Tencent.</p><p>The two companies <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nintendo-shares-jump-13-percent-after-tencent-gains-switch-sales-approval-in-china-2019-4">announced a collaboration back in April</a> that finally enables a Nintendo game console, the Switch, to launch in China, the largest gaming market in the world. The deal also enables some of Nintendo's biggest Switch games to launch in China.</p><p>But it sounds like Tencent's ambitions with Nintendo don't end with the China collaboration. </p><p>"What we want is to expand from China, and one target is console game players in the US and Europe," an unidentified Tencent staffer <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/tencent-looks-to-leverage-its-partnership-with-nintendo-in-the-u-s-11573390800">told the Wall Street Journal in a piece published over the weekend</a>. "We hope to create console games with Nintendo characters, and learn the essence of making console games from Nintendo engineers."</p><p>That's a pretty major goal, and an especially bold one given Nintendo's history of being <em>extremely protective</em> of its characters and properties.</p><p>The company is famously careful about which companies it allows to make games with its properties, and has retained a reputation for quality control as a result.</p><p>Simply put: People trust Nintendo games to be high quality, and Nintendo has carefully maintained that standard by not allowing its properties to be licensed widely.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div></p><p>Though <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-tencent-games-explainer-2019-8">Tencent is the largest game company in the world</a>, it became so large through acquisition rather than creation. Nintendo spent decades building up game franchises and characters from nothing, elevating a tiny Italian plumber from a few blocky pixels to a household name.</p><p>Tencent took decidedly different tactic: Investing in, and/or buying up, major game makers.</p><p>For instance, Tencent outright owns Riot Games - the Los Angeles-based studio responsible for two of the world's biggest games: "League of Legends" and "Teamfight Tactics."</p><p>Tencent also owns a substantial portion of Epic Games (specifically, a 40% stake) - the North Carolina-based company behind "Fortnite," the Epic Games Store, and the software suite that powers a huge portion of gaming (Unreal Engine). The feature was recently highlighted by privacy news blog <a href="https://reclaimthenet.org/apple-safari-ip-addresses-tencent/">Reclaim the Net</a>.</p><p>As part of its Fraudulent Website Warning feature, Apple says it may share some information from a website's address as well as a user's IP address with <a href="https://safebrowsing.google.com/">Google Safe Browsing</a> and Tencent Safe Browsing before visiting that website. This process is done to check whether or not the website a user is trying to visit is a phishing scheme attempting to steal personal information.</p><p>This Fraudulent Website Warning feature is turned on by default in iOS 13, and Apple's description of it reads as follows:</p><p>Fraudulent Website Warning can be turned off by launching the settings menu on your iPhone, choosing "Safari," and toggling the switch next to "Fraudulent Website Warning." California-based video game giant Blizzard Entertainment recently faced backlash for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/blizzard-boycott-hong-kong-protests-activision-blitzchung-blizzcon-2019-10">banning a competitive "Hearthstone" player</a> after he voiced his support for the ongoing protests in Hong Kong.</p><p>Apple had also fallen under some scrutiny last week after it <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-boots-hong-kong-police-tracking-app-hkmap-live-2019-10">removed an app from the App Store</a> used by Hong Kong protesters to monitor police activity.
