<ul><li><keyword id="6354427" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="apple" source="Orion">Apple</keyword> shipped 10.8 tablets with 35.2 per cent share in Q1, followed by <keyword id="10591" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="samsung" source="Orion">Samsung</keyword> at 23.1 per cent share and shipping 7.1 million units.</li><li>Huawei was third with 6.6 per cent share (2 million units), according to preliminary data from from the International Data Corporation (IDC).</li></ul>New Delhi, Apple, followed by Samsung, led the global <keyword id="50839" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="tablet" source="Orion">tablet</keyword> market in the first quarter of 2023, together making up nearly 58 per cent of the market even with the changing landscape post-pandemic, a report has shown.<br /><br />Apple shipped 10.8 tablets with 35.2 per cent share in Q1, followed by Samsung at 23.1 per cent share and shipping 7.1 million units.<br /><br />Huawei was third with 6.6 per cent share (2 million units), according to preliminary data from from the International Data Corporation (IDC).<br /><br />Worldwide tablet shipments posted decline of 19.1 per cent (year-over-year) in the first quarter of 2023, reaching 30.7 million units.<br /><br />The low shipment volume is now comparable to pre-pandemic levels. Shipment volume in 1Q23 was comparable to the 30.1 million units shipped in Q1 2019 and 31.6 million in Q1 2018. <br /><br />"Tablet vendors entered the first quarter of 2023 with caution. Apple, Samsung capture 58% of global tablet market

Global PC shipments decline another 15% in Q3: Report

Global personal computer or PC shipments have reported a year-on-year increase in Q2 2024.<br /><br />According to a report by International Data Corporation (IDC), 64.9 million PCs were shipped in Q2 2024, registering a 3% year-on-year growth. While the rest of the markets recovered, China continued to lag behind. If the Chinese market is excluded, the year-on-year growth increased to 5%.<br /><br />"Make no mistake, the PC market just like other technology markets faces challenges in the near term due to maturity and headwinds," said Ryan Reith, group vice president, IDC Worldwide Device Trackers.<br /><br />"However, two consecutive quarters of growth, combined with plenty of market hype around AI devices shipped in Q2 2023, registering a growth of 3.7%.<br /><br />Among the top five companies, Apple recorded the highest growth at 20.8%, shipping 5.7 million devices in Q2 2024, up from 4.7 million devices in Q2 2023.<br /><br />The only company in the top five that has recorded a decline is Dell, which shipped 10.1 million devices in Q2 2024, down from 10.3 million devices shipped in Q2 Global PC shipments report growth for the second quarter, up by 3% in Q2 2024

<ul class="summary-list"><li>A recent International Data Corporation report outlined global PC shipment data from Q1 of this year.</li><li>Demand has dropped across the industry, with a 29% decrease compared to last year.</li></ul><p>People are buying up fewer Apple computers as demand for PCs has moved away from COVID-era highs.</p><p>According to a <a href="https://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS50565723">report</a> from the International Data Corporation (IDC), the global shipments of PC devices dropped 29% in the first quarter of 2023, when compared to the same period last year.</p><p>Among the five biggest manufacturers, Apple was impacted the most: The number of Apple PCs shipped dropped 40.5% from the first quarter of 2022 to the first quarter of 2023.</p><p>Lenovo, HP, Dell, and Asus experienced similar levels of decline, ranging from 24.2% to 30.3%. </p><p>The data compiled by the IDC draws from more than 90 countries around the world. Global shipments include shipments to end users and distribution channels, like BestBuy and other electronics retailers.</p><p>This report speaks to a reversal from <a href="https://www.crn.com/news/mobility/pc-demand-expected-to-continue-surging-in-2021-idc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2021</a>, when <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/pc-back-thank-pandemic-microsoft-amd-hardware-software-sales-2021-1">demand for personal computing surged</a> amidst the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.</p><p>The <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-delay-mac-ipad-parts-shortage-bad-sign-tech-industry-2021-4?_gl=1*vruzq1*_ga*ODczNjYzMzEyLjE2ODA1NDA1MDY.*_ga_E21CV80ZCZ*MTY4MTE0NjcyNS44LjEuMTY4MTE0ODUzMS42MC4wLjA.">supply chain issues</a> that plagued electronic manufacturers two years ago did not play a role in waning demand. In fact, there has been excess inventory.</p><p>Jitesh Ubrani, a research manager at IDC, noted in the report that despite "heavy discounting" and sale pricing, PC-makers could expect this excess supply to "persist into the middle of the year and potentially into the the third quarter." </p><p>Global shipment volume is now bearing more resemblance to pre-COVID levels. During the first quarter of 2023, 56.9 million units were moved, compared to the 59.2 million and 60.6 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2019 and 2018, respectively. </p><p>Linn Huang, a research vice president at IDC, made a prediction that demand in 2024 would be tied to the general wellbeing of the economy, stating that if it's trending upward then we can "expect significant market upside as consumers look to refresh, schools seek to replace worn down Chromebooks, and businesses move to Windows 11."</p>

Amid the pandemic-related supply issues and chip shortage, the global shipments of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech-buying-guides/best-24-inch-pc-monitor-in-india/articleshow/84646356.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">traditional PCs</a> (desktops, notebooks and workstations) in the third quarter (Q3) this year, which reached 86.7 million units (up 3.9 per cent from the prior year), according to a new IDC report.<br /><br />This marks the sixth consecutive quarter of growth for the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/pc-market-sees-highest-first-quarter-growth-in-two-decades-gartner/articleshow/82047005.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">PC market</a>, as the onset of the pandemic has led to a surge in demand while also contributing to component shortages and other supply challenges.<br /><br />"The PC industry continues to be hampered by supply and logistical challenges and unfortunately these issues have not seen much improvement in recent months," said Jitesh Ubrani, research manager for IDC's Mobile and Consumer Device Trackers.<br /><br />"Given the current circumstances, we are seeing some vendors reprioritise shipments amongst various markets, allowing emerging markets to maintain growth momentum while some mature markets begin to slow," Ubrani added.<br /><br />Lenovo led the third quarter with 22.8 per cent market share, followed by HP Inc with 20.3 per cent share and Dell Technologies at 17.5 per cent share.<br /><br />Bottlenecked supply chains and ongoing logistic challenges led the US PC market into its first quarter of annual shipment decline since the beginning of the pandemic.<br /><br />"After a year of accelerated buying driven by the shift to remote work and learning, there's also been a comparative slowdown in PC spending and that has caused some softening of the US PC market today," said Neha Mahajan, senior research analyst, Devices and Displays at IDC.<br /><br />"Yet, supply clearly remains behind demand in key segments with inventory still below normal levels," Mahajan added.

Global PC shipments reach 86.7 million units in Q3, up 3.9% from last year: IDC report

Chip-maker <keyword id="104695" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Qualcomm">Qualcomm</keyword> has announced to invest further in its new Snapdragon Wear Platform along with launching a <keyword id="11687311" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="wearables-ecosystem-accelerator-programme">Wearables Ecosystem Accelerator Programme</keyword>, as it reaches more than 40 million Snapdragon Wear shipments.<br /><br />At a press event on Tuesday, <keyword id="1119509" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Qualcomm-Technologies">Qualcomm Technologies</keyword> also announced that more than 60 wearable industry leaders such as Arm, BBK, Fossil, Oppo, Verizon, <keyword id="15492" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone">Vodafone</keyword>, and <keyword id="379506" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zebra">Zebra</keyword> will participate in the new programme.<br /><br />"Our Snapdragon Wear platforms are driving the industry, powering smartwatches for kids, seniors, and adults and smart trackers for pets and accessories," said Pankaj Kedia, senior director and global head, smart wearables, Qualcomm Technologies. <br /><br />"We are significantly growing our investments in leading edge ground-up silicon, platforms, and technologies and plan to roll out new Snapdragon Wear platforms across segments over the next year to meet our long-term vision," Kedia said in a statement.<br /><br />The wearables market grew 21 per cent year-over-year and shows no signs of slowing down<br /><br />"Innovative form factors continue to emerge as consumers demand new use cases in wearable devices. Qualcomm to further invest in its new Snapdragon platform for wearables after reaching 40 million shipments

Lenovo led the global traditional PC market (including desktops, notebooks, and workstations) in the first quarter of 2021 with 24.3 per cent share, as the worldwide shipments grew 55.2 per cent (on-year), according to an <keyword id="6377157" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="idc">IDC</keyword> report.<br /><br /><keyword id="2547931" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HP-Inc">HP Inc</keyword> was second with 22.9 per cent PC market share, followed by <keyword id="3346453" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dell-Technologies">Dell Technologies</keyword> at 15.4 per cent share.<br /><br />PC shipments reached 84 million worldwide in the January-March period, a modest 8 per cent decline from the fourth quarter of 2020.<br /><br />While sequential declines are typical for the first quarter, a decline this small has not been seen since the first quarter of 2012 when the PC market declined 7.5 per cent sequentially, according to IDC's ‘Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker' showed on Saturday.<br /><br />"Unfulfilled demand from the past year has carried forward into the first quarter and additional demand brought on by the pandemic has also continued to drive volume," said Jitesh Ubrani, research manager for IDC's Mobile Device Trackers.<br /><br />"However, the market continues to struggle with setbacks including component shortages and logistics issues, each of which has contributed to an increase in average selling prices," he added.<br /><br /><keyword id="6354427" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="apple">Apple</keyword> with 8 per cent market share (by shipments) was fourth while Acer Group with 5 per cent came fifth.<br /><br />The continued resurgence in the PC market as well as increases in average selling prices (ASPs) have primarily been driven by growth in gaming, the need for higher performance notebooks in the enterprise, and an increase in demand for touchscreens within the education segment.<br /><br />Ryan Reith, program vice president with IDC's Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers said that the ongoing shortages in the semiconductor space only further prolong the ability for vendors to refill inventory and fulfill orders to customers.<br /><br />"We believe a fundamental shift has occurred around the PC, which will result in a more positive outlook for years to follow. Lenovo leads global PC market in first quarter of 2021 with 24.3% share, HP on second with 22.9% share, says IDC report

Driven primarily by lockdown-induced <keyword id="6358993" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="demand">demand</keyword>, shipments of gaming PCs and <keyword id="731335" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Monitors">monitors</keyword> grew 26.8 per cent year-over-year in 2020 to 55 million units, according to a report from industry tracker <keyword id="668267" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="International-Data-Corporation">International Data Corporation</keyword> (IDC).<br /><br /><keyword id="2426328" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="gaming-notebooks">Gaming notebooks</keyword> remained the biggest volume driver through a year marked by home restrictions, according to IDC's <keyword id="11042978" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Worldwide-Quarterly-Gaming-Tracker">Worldwide Quarterly Gaming Tracker</keyword>.<br /><br />Despite being affected by display panel shortages through much of the year, gaming notebooks grew a record 26.9 per cent in 2020 as consumers appreciated their versatility for both work and play.<br /><br />In parallel with PCs, gaming monitors also reached new heights in 2020, growing more than 77 per cent compared to 2019 with shipments reaching 14.3 million units.<br /><br />Aside from the sheer volume, 2020 brought other milestones that could alter future trends.<br /><br />North America and Western Europe combined overtook Asia/Pacific (including Japan) as the <keyword id="2085715" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="largest-market">largest market</keyword> for the first time, largely due to lockdown-induced demand.<br /><br />"Unfortunately, the supply of gaming PCs has tumbled recently and while crypto-mining may be partially to blame, the sheer demand for these products and growth in the player base is more likely the root cause of the shortages," said Jitesh Ubrani, Research Manager for IDC's Worldwide Mobile and Consumer Device Trackers.<br /><br />"New GPUs, new games, added support for ray-tracing, and the growth in demand have also led to an increase in average selling prices during 2020 and will likely remain at these elevated levels in 2021."<br /><br />Looking ahead, IDC expects the gaming market to remain a bright spot after the overall PC market returns to more normal replacement cycles after the pandemic.<br /><br />While gaming desktops will continue to fade in favour of notebooks, their demise will be more than made up for by notebooks and monitors, IDC said.<br /><br />For example, IDC expects gaming monitor volume will exceed that of gaming desktops for the first time in 2021.<br /><br />The gaming monitor market is expected to see a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 10 per cent, said IDC. Adding that it expects this momentum to carry forward as global volumes reach 72.9 million in 2025 with a CAGR of 5.8 per cent.<br /><br />"Much like the notebook market, monitors also faced panel component shortages and surging demand," said Jay Chou, Research Manager for IDC's Worldwide PC Monitor Tracker.<br /><br />"OEMs (Original equipment manufacturers) have to be wise about where to allocate scarce resources and it makes sense to meet gaming display demand as commercial buying and office occupancy in many markets remains weak. Gaming PCs and monitor shipments worldwide grew 26.8% in 2020

But despite the temporary gain, the chip giants are still wrestling with soft demand for datacenter chips.</strong></li><li><strong>Another winner appears to be Microsoft, which said that its Windows business has benefitted from manufacturers building more PCs ahead of potential tarriffs. </strong></li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/prime?module=article&amp;area=summary"><strong>Click here for more BI Prime stories.</strong></a></li></ul><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The PC market, which has been in steady decline in the last few years, has become an unexpected winner in the tech Cold War with China - at least temporarily. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And this is good news for PC chipmakers Intel and AMD, which are set to report results in the next two weeks, just as it was good news for Microsoft when it <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-earnings-q4-fy-2019-7">reported its results last week</a>. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Both semiconductor giants have been focused more heavily on revenue from datacenter chips, but some analysts think they got a rare lift from what had been the sagging PC market.</span></p><h2><strong>A shrinking PC market </strong></h2><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">PC shipments, which includes desktops and notebooks, have been sliding yearly over the last five years, and are expected to total 254 million in 2019, down about 18% from 2014, according to IDC.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But the second quarter saw 64.9 million PCs shipped, up 5% from the year-ago period, and "notably higher than expected," IDC said. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One reason for the uptick is the upcoming end of support for business PCs running Windows 7 which is expected to spark a spike in demand for new systems running Windows 10 in the corporate world. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"></span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another is that Intel, the world's leading PC chipmaker, was able to resolve key production issues that had constrained supply recently.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jitesh Ubrani, an IDC research, said in a report that "supply for Intel's processors improved markedly during the quarter, allowing most PC vendors to fulfill old orders while also shipping a healthy supply of new PCs into the channels."</span></p><h2><strong>Trump tariff fears</strong></h2><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But analysts point to another potential reason: worries of another round of Trump Administration tariffs, which sent manufacturers scrambling to build PCs ahead of time before component prices go up. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">US/China trade tensions escalated in May when the Trump Administration blacklisted Chinese tech powerhouse Huawei and imposed new tariffs on Chinese imports. Trump's trade team was getting ready for</span><a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/us-china-trade-war-trump-trade-team-to-visit-shanghai-2019-7-1028377573"><span style="font-weight: 400;"> new talks in Shanghai </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">next week, but fears of more tariffs have remained.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"The threat of increased tariffs led some PC makers to ship a surplus of desktops and notebooks, thereby artificially propping up the PC market during the second quarter," IDC research manager Jitesh Ubrani said in a note.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mizuho Group analyst Vijay Rakesh also told clients in a note that he sees shipments "trending significantly stronger" in the second quarter, which he said was likely due to "better commercial PC shipments and a pull-in from the September quarter on fear of a 25% tariff."</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Wedbush analyst Matthew Bryson also cited "uncertainty around tariffs" that led to "some pull in" of PCs that were expected to be shipped in the second half of the year. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Microsoft, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-microsoft-results/microsoft-shares-hit-record-highs-powered-by-growing-cloud-sales-idUSKCN1UD2Y2">which reported results last week,</a> also said its PC division got a boost from a wave of Windows 7 upgrades and PC makers building up inventory ahead of possible tariffs.</span></p><h2><strong>A temporary gain</strong></h2><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unfortunately for Intel and AMD the unexpected second-quarter gain in PCs probably means a more downbeat results for the rest of the year, analysts said.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rakesh wrote that the PC shipments uptick "ahead of China tariff could be a 2H [second half of the year] drag." Bryson of Wedbush echoed that view, saying "these better PC numbers come at the expense of" revenues in the second half of 2019.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Meanwhile, Intel, AMD and another chip giant, Nvidia, continue to wrestle with the uncertainty in the market for chips that power data centers. In April, Intel reported a </span><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/intel-data-center-business-growth-rockier-than-expected-2019-4"><span style="font-weight: 400;">weaker-than-expected 2019 revenue target,</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> largely due to downbeat expectations from the data center market.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Weakening demand in <keyword id="6356323" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="enterprise">enterprise</keyword> data center demand has been a major problem for Intel, which is set to report after the market closes on Thursday. Intel's data center business will not likely offset "lighter PC shipments" in the second half of the year, Bryson of Wedbush wrote.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rakesh said he does not expect a meaningful rebound in data center spending in the second half of the year which means that "</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">combined with slower PCs and competitive Intel pricing" could limit any upside for AMD, which is scheduled to report on July 30.</span></p><p><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">Got a tip about Intel, AMD or another tech company? The PC industry got a big, temporary boost from fears that Trump will impose tariffs on China - and it's good news for Intel, AMD, and Microsoft

Because Apple Watch failed to bring a significant holiday jump in its sales during the quarter, typically the best-selling period of the year.</p><p>This chart by <a href="http://www.statista.com">Statista</a>, based on <a href="http://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS41037416">data from IDC</a>, shows Apple Watch's holiday sales only saw a slight bump compared to previous quarters. In contrast, Fitbit's sales jumped 72% from the previous quarter, while smaller players like Garmin and Samsung both saw increases. Xiaomi's sales dropped sequentially, but it saw a whopping 285% jump year-over-year.</p><p>There could be a lot of reasons for the slow growth, but as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-watch-sales-during-holiday-season-look-horrible-2016-2">IDC's </a><span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-watch-sales-during-holiday-season-look-horrible-2016-2">Jitesh Ubrani told Business Insider</a>, it might be due to the smartwatch's lack of appeal to the general public.</span></p><p><span><span>"Some of that can be attributed to early-on supply chain issues, but I think most of it is attributed to people just not seeing the value in the smartwatch just yet," Ubrani said. It is, except for one thing: The feature only works if you're in WiFi range, or near your phone.</p><p>From a hypothetical standpoint, that's not a huge deal considering most people are tethered to their phones at all times nowadays. But the fact that the feature relies on your smartphone to work touches upon a larger problem with wearables in general: It makes little sense to spend $350+ for an Apple Watch that relies heavily on your $600+ iPhone.</p><p>Technology research company IDC estimated that <a href="http://www.techinsider.io/why-people-are-disappointed-by-apple-watch-sales-2016-2" target="_blank">Apple sold 4.1 million Apple Watches</a> in the fourth quarter of 2015, making it the second-best selling wearable in that quarter, next to FitBit. IDC's Jitesh Ubrani put it perfectly when he <a href="http://www.techinsider.io/why-people-are-disappointed-by-apple-watch-sales-2016-2" target="_blank">told Business Insider</a> what those numbers say about the Apple Watch.</p><p>"Some of that can be attributed to early-on supply chain issues, but I think most of it is attributed to people just not seeing the value in the smartwatch just yet," Ubrani said. "The price has been very high on these things, and function-wise, they don't offer a lot of new functionality when it compares to the smartphone."</p><p>And that's my problem as well: If I'm going to spend so much money on a watch, I want it to work independently from my phone, especially for these kinds of vital services like dialing 911. I want the option of running with just my watch and knowing it can make an emergency call if need be. I want the option of going on a quick errand and knowing I'm safe even if I don't have my phone.</p><p>The appeal of a wearable is it should let you step away from your smartphone while limiting the anxiety of being totally out of the loop. This is the biggest issue with the Apple Watch's new 911 feature

(Even Apple executives use IDC statistics.)</p><p>Since the Apple Watch came out in April, here's how many Apple has shipped, according to IDC:</p><div><ul><li><a href="http://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS25872215">Q2, 2015</a>: 3.6M</li><li><a href="http://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS40674715">Q3, 2015</a>: 3.9M</li><li>Q4, 2015: 4.1M</li></ul></div><p>There's no way to look at the Q4 numbers and say they're not disappointing from Apple's perspective. The holiday quarter is Apple's biggest, as people around the world look to give iPhones and Macs as Christmas presents. </p><p>For example, Apple sold 26.25 million more iPhones in the fourth quarter than the third - good for a 55% increase sequentially, according to Apple figures. <strong>Apple Watch sales only increased 5% </strong>over the same time span, according to IDC's estimate. </p><p>Fitbit also saw a much bigger holiday jump than the Apple. According to the IDC numbers, Fitbit sold 8.1 million fitness trackers in the fourth quarter - a 72% increase over the third quarter. </p><p>This suggests that the Apple Watch was not a hot item this holiday season, even as major retailers discounted the product <a href="http://recode.net/2015/11/30/apple-watches-discounted-by-as-much-as-100-spur-holiday-sales-maybe/">by as much as $100</a>. </p><p>Sure, Apple's smartwatch is still by far the best-selling in the market, easily outselling all models running Google's rival Android Wear software combined, and to be fair, the product hasn't even been out for a full year. Still, these sales numbers indicate it's not a runaway hit.</p><p>I asked Jitesh Ubrani, one of the authors of the IDC study, why Apple Watch shipments seem to be on the low side. </p><p>"For a brand new player, Apple has already made a splash," Ubrani told Business Insider. "They're in the top five. That being said, it is lower than what people expected, because people expected their numbers to be a little higher. We have them at about 11.6 million, for the whole year, and a lot of people were initially estimating 15-20 million, during the early-on days. Obviously they haven't lived up to that."</p><p>"Some of that can be attributed to early-on supply chain issues, but I think most of it is attributed to people just not seeing the value in the smartwatch just yet," he continued. "Apple's not the only one to blame there yet, all smartwatches haven't lived up to people's expectations yet. The other top 5 wearable companies, Fitbit, Xiaomi, Garmin, and Samsung, all saw annual gains.</p><p>All four companies aside from Apple sell low-cost step trackers, which have found success because they are simple and solve a single problem, as compared to the Apple Watch, which offers fitness, notification, and app store platform features. </p><p>"Where smartwatches were once expected to take the lead, basic wearables now reign supreme. Simplicity is a driving factor and this is well reflected in the top vendor list as four out of five offer a simple, dedicated fitness device," IDC research analyst Jitesh Ubrani said in a statement. </p><p>Apple watch sales have been falling on an annual basis for the last two quarters. About Apple's relative struggles, IDC noted:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">Apple's decision to launch its second-generation watches in mid-September, towards the end of the quarter, did contribute to its year-over-year decline in 3Q16. However, the primary reasons for the downturn were an aging lineup and an unintuitive user interface.
