The contract spans over 20 years, with the delivery of 40,000 forged wheels in the first year, 60,000 in the second year, and 80,000 wheels annually thereafter, Ramkrishna Forgings said in a statement on Friday. "Ramkrishna Forgings Limited (RKFL) and <keyword id="17721867" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="titagarh-rail-systems-limited" source="Orion">Titagarh Rail Systems Limited</keyword> (<keyword id="17712115" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="trsl" source="Orion">TRSL</keyword>) consortium has won a contract to supply 15,40,000 forged wheels under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by Ministry of Railways," it said. The wheels will be used for LHB coaches, WAG9 locomotives, <keyword id="7263559" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vande-bharat-express" source="Orion">Vande Bharat Express</keyword> trains, and other platforms and the total contract value is Rs 12,226.5 crore, the company said. The consortium will be establishing a facility to manufacture these forged wheels, with a total annual production target of 2,00,000 wheels when fully operational. The facility will address the demands of the domestic railway sector, private sector as well as the export markets. Both companies will contribute equity on an equal basis to support the project's capital expenditure needs. Kolkata-based Ramkrishna Forgings is a manufacturer and supplier of closed-die forgings of carbon and alloy steel, micro-alloy steel and stainless steel forgings. The Prime Minister also informed that the work of 'track multi-tracking' of more than 250 kms has also been done in Telangana and added that the electrification of railway tracks in the state has gone up three times during this electrification period. Modi said that Vande Bharat is also connected to Andhra Pradesh from one end and informed that the Central Government is continuously working to strengthen the rail network in Andhra Pradesh also. Goyal said that a total of four pairs of Tejas Express services have been introduced. He further said that the railways is manufacturing only Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, which are technologically superior and have better riding, aesthetics and safety features than conventional Integral Coach Factory (ICF) type coaches. "Production Units of railways have stopped the manufacturing of ICF type coaches and are manufacturing only LHB coaches from the year 2018-19 onwards," he said. Goyal also said that vistadome coaches provide panoramic view, through wider body side windows as well as through transparent sections in the roof, thus enabling the passengers to enjoy the scenic beauty of the places through which they travel. "Recently, vistadome coaches on LHB platform have been manufactured with several modern features or amenities," he said. He said that under Project Utkrisht, which was launched in April 2018 to improve the condition of ICF type coaches running in Mail or Express trains, railways has upgraded 447 rakes of Mail or Express trains till December 2020. Similarly, under Project Swarn, 65 rakes of Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains have been upgraded across multiple dimensions, which include coach interiors, toilets, onboard cleanliness, staff behaviour, linen, etc. The Minister said that 63 smart coaches with ultra modern features like smart public address and passenger information system, Smart HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system), Smart security and surveillance system etc. have been manufactured and introduced. He said that conversion of end-on-generation (EOG) trains into Head-On-Generation (HOG) trains is om to reduce noise and air pollution at stations and in trains. On Monday, an attempt to derail the Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express was made in Kanpur by placing an <keyword id="23093876" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lpg-cylinder-on-tracks" source="Orion">LPG cylinder on tracks</keyword>, along with a bottle of petrol and matchboxes. Earlier, a bid was made to derail the Ahmedabad-Jodhpur Vande Bharat express in Rajasthan's Pali district. Talking about the Ajmer incident, a Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) official said a case has been registered and the matter is under investigation. "The incident occurred on Sunday night. The train's guard informed the control room, and a team of officials along with RPF personnel reached the spot and found the blocks. Movement of trains was not affected. A case was registered by the local police and the matter is under investigation," Deputy GM (Security) DFCC Chitresh Joshi said. He said that it was first such incident on the Western Corridor.

Notably, police on August 17 arrested an attendant at the school for allegedly sexually abusing two girl students of the kindergarten, aged three and four years. As per the complaint, he abused the girls in the toilet of the school. The school management suspended the principal, a class teacher, and a female attendant over the incident. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed the police to invoke the attempt to rape charge against the arrested accused. He said the case will be fast-tracked, and a special public prosecutor will be appointed. The incident fuelled massive protests by parents who came on tracks at Badlapur station, and blocked local trains on Tuesday. The protest has affected the movement of suburban trains in <keyword id="19895282" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mumbai" source="keywords">Mumbai</keyword>. The rail roko protest at Badlapur station in Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday, over the alleged sexual abuse of two girl students of a kindergarten led to the diversion of 10 long-distance trains via alternate routes, the Central Railway said. As protesters, including several women, came on railway tracks and blocked traffic, local train services between Ambernath and Karjat stations were suspended from 10:10 AM. The protest turned violent as agitators vandalised the school, where the alleged incident occurred last week, and also indulged in stone-pelting at the Badlapur railway station, police said. At least 10 mail-express trains, including Solapur-CSMT Vande Bharat Express, were diverted via Karjat-Panvel-Thane stations, said Swapnil Nila, chief public relations officer (CRPO) of Central Railway. He said local trains between CSMT and Ambarnath stations are running normally; services between Badlapur and Karjat remain suspended. In view of the protest, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) deployed additional personnel at stations on the Kalyan-Karjat section of Central Railway, Nila said. Mehta Institutional Research Vande Bharat programme an upside trigger for RVNL There seem to be more orders on the way for the company, as media reports suggest that the Indian Railways will start the production of 120 advanced Vande Bharat Express trains by August 2023. The central government has sanctioned ₹600 crore to set up a coach factory at Latur and to begin the operations at the earliest. Presently, 14 Vande Bharat Express trains are operating on different routes across the country. In the 2023-24 budget, the government increased its capex by 33.4% to ₹10 Lakh crore for infrastructure development, with record allocation to the Railways. “100 transport infrastructure projects identified for end-to-end connectivity for ports, coal, steel and fertiliser sectors. It’s the highest-ever capital allocation for Railways and is nearly nine times over FY14 allocations with an outlay of ₹2.4 lakh crore provided for railways in FY24,” said a report by Asit C Mehta Investment Intermediates titled ‘Accelerating growth prospects’. As more orders are set to roll in, brokerages expect RVNL’s revenue and margins to improve as well. “Management expects margins to gradually improve as the share of nomination-based bidding comes off (cost + fixed margin). For FY23, management targets a revenue of ₹200-205 billion,” said the Elara report. Analysts at Asit C Mehta said they expected the company’s revenue to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of almost 20% over FY23-FY26. “RVNL’s expertise and experience in diversified infrastructure projects - from rails, roads, marine, hill areas, metro trains and many other areas, with (an) existing strong order book, we believe RVNL is well placed to capitalise on these opportunities,” said Asit C Mehta. This railway stock has turned a multibagger as its order book expands

Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword> on Sunday laid the foundation stones for the redevelopment of 32 railway stations in <keyword id="6354915" type="General" weightage="90" keywordseo="assam" source="Orion">Assam</keyword>, which are among the 508 stations across the country that will be modernised under the '<keyword id="15890547" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="amrit-bharat-station-scheme" source="Orion">Amrit Bharat Station Scheme</keyword>'. The stations in Assam will be modernised at a cost of Rs 990 crore, a Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) official said. Among these stations are Amguri, Dibrugarh, Duliajan, Tinsukia, Dhubri, Diphu, Kokrajhar, Jorhat Town, Jagiroad, Lumding Junction, New Haflong, Narengi and New Karimganj. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who attended the foundation stone laying programme at Narengi station in Guwahati, said the modernisation is being done with future demands in mind. "The modernisation is being planned in such a way that for the next 25 years, train travel will be a good experience," he said. A total of 50 stations in the state will be redeveloped under the scheme, and foundation stones for 32 were laid on Sunday. Sarma said the redevelopment work will be completed within two years. Maintaining that train travel experience has changed in the last 10 years, he said the introduction of Vande Bharat Express trains has added to it and many people now prefer travelling on trains than flying. So far 1,309 stations have been identified for redevelopment under the scheme, and the foundation stones for 508 were laid on Sunday. The NFR official said 91 stations under it have been identified for the project, and the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 56 stations was laid. Besides the 32 stations in Assam, 16 are in West Bengal, three each in Tripura and Bihar, and one station each in Nagaland and Meghalaya. A total of Rs 5,100 crore has been allocated for the redevelopment of the 91 stations under NFR. Out of which, Rs 1,960 crores will be utilised for the redevelopment of these 56 stations. This scheme envisages the development of stations on a continuous basis with a long-term approach. The redevelopment project will provide for modern passenger amenities apart from ensuring a well-designed traffic circulation, inter-modal integration and well-designed signage for the guidance of passengers, officials said, adding the design of station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture. The facilities intended to be developed at the stations include foot-overbridges, escalators and elevators, two-wheeler and car parking areas and integrated passenger information system, besides improvement of platforms and platform shelters, benches and washbasins, better illumination and power supply arrangements.

The film directed by Kirtika Gonsalves depicts life around two Kattunayakan tribe members and a couple, <keyword id="14874226" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bomman" source="Orion">Bomman</keyword> and <keyword id="15865661" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bellie" source="Orion">Bellie</keyword>, who nurture and bring up elephant calves that were orphaned. <keyword id="141578" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sukumaran-nair" source="Orion">Sukumaran Nair</keyword> from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is visiting the Theppakadu Elephant Camp for the first time. The retired engineer from Kerala State Water Works department while speaking to IANS said, "This is the first time I am paying a visit to the Theppakadu Elephant camp. The only idea is to meet the elephants Reghu and Ammu and if possible have a chat with Bomman and Bellie." He and his wife Indira Devi are both retired and left for Thiruvananthapuram in a cab to reach Theppekadu by Monday evening. He said that he will have a chat with both Bomman and Bellie even though Bomman is away in Salem to bring an injured elephant. The retired engineer, however, said that he would stay back at Theppakadu for a couple of days more and try to understand the life of elephants and mahouts. Umesh Singh is another tourist who reached Theppakadu on Tuesday morning. While speaking to IANS he said that he was a native of New Delhi but for the past two weeks was in South India as a tourist and on hearing the news about 'Elephant Whisperers' winning the Oscars, he left for Theppakadu camp to have a glimpse of the elephants, Reghu and Ammu. While speaking to IANS, Umesh Singh said, "I reached the elephant sanctuary today morning. It's amazing and I want to meet both Bomman and Bellie. I don't know whether it is possible but I will stay here till evening and meet them as well as the elephants." Theppakadu Elephant camp officials told IANS that a few foreign tourists are also there at the camp who wanted to meet the elephants as well as the mahouts. It is to be noted that the Theppakadu Elephant camp is the oldest in Asia and was established in 1917. The camp currently has 28 elephants who were captured while they were wild tuskers creating problems for humans and these elephants are tamed at this camp and converted to 'Kumki' elephants. Tourists flock to TN elephant camp after 'The Elephant Whisperers' wins Oscar

The Ministry of <keyword id="6360676" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="railways" source="Orion">Railways</keyword> has increased the speed of 500 <keyword id="5947970" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mail-express-trains" source="Orion">Mail Express trains</keyword> through the new time table of the Railways from Monday. Now, these <keyword id="6413405" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="express" source="Orion">express</keyword> trains will reach their destination faster by 10 to 70 minutes. Along with this, Railways has converted 130 services i.e. 65 pairs from Express to Superfast. It is expected that the new time table will improve the punctuality of trains by about 9 percent, due to which about 84 percent of the trains will reach their destinations at the right time. Indian Railways runs about 3240 Mail/Express trains daily which include Vande Bharat Express, Gatimaan Express, Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Humsafar Express, Tejas Express, Duronto Express, Antyodaya Express, Garib Rath Express, Sampark Kranti Express, Yuva Express, Uday Express. Apart from these, about 3000 passenger trains and approximately more than 5600 suburban trains run daily in which about 2.23 crore people travel daily. Apart from these, a large number of goods trains are operated. Constant efforts are made to run these trains in a time-bound manner and make them reach their destinations on time. Every year, attempts are made to increase the speed of trains while making the new time table of trains. During the pandemic, the Railways in collaboration with IIT Mumbai had tried to make a zero based time table. After all these efforts, the new time table has been implemented from 1 October 2022. In this, the average speed of all trains of Railways has been increased by 5 percent. According to the Ministry of Railways, in making the new time table, the Railways has got 5 percent additional lines to run new trains. With this exercise, 5 percent more capacity has been developed on the existing railway line to run new trains. The punctuality in trains in the year 2019-20 was 75 per cent but the same has increased by 9 percent to 84 percent in the year 2022-23. Railways increased the speed of 500 mail express trains by 10-70 minutes

The people have high expectations from the <keyword id="4183143" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rail-budget" source="Orion">Rail Budget</keyword> as the Union Finance Minister <keyword id="129243" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nirmala-sitharaman" source="Orion">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> will present her fifth <keyword id="6358021" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="budget" source="Orion">Budget</keyword> on February 1. In its first term, the Modi government the Centre had linked the Rail Budget with the General Budget, under which the money for the <keyword id="6356740" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="railway" source="Orion">Railway</keyword>s is now provided. According to the information, the Centre is going to increase the Railway Budget this time by up to 20 per cent. Earlier, in the pre-Budget meeting, the Railway Board demanded 25-30 per cent more funds in the allocation of the Finance Ministry. In such a situation, the government can give a fund of about Rs 2 trillion to the Ministry of <keyword id="6360676" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="railways" source="Orion">Railways</keyword> in the Budget leading to an atmosphere of enthusiasm in sectors related to the Railways. There have also been various demands from the passengers. This is the last full Budget of the Modi government before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Along with this, before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, elections will be held in 10 states of the country in this year, including big states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram in the Northeast. Elections can be held in Jammu and Kashmir this year. In this Railway Budget, the Central government can announce many new railway facilities for passengers. It is believed that this time, the Rail Budget can prove to be an election budget, especially in those states where elections are to be held. This may result in some special announcements from the Centre for these states. However, the Union Ministry of Railways so far has achieved Rs 42,370 crore more revenue as compared to the previous financial year. The Railway's income has increased by 71 per cent, whereas earlier in 2021, there was a loss of Rs 26,338 crore, which led to the government decreasing the concessions provided to the common people. In view of the strong figures of Railways earnings, people from all sections have raised demands to again implement the subsidies, including the one where senior citizens above 60 years of age used to get up to 50 per cent discount before the Covid-19 pandemic, which has now been discontinued. According to the Railways, there is no plan in this Budget to give concession in rail tickets to senior citizens. The Central government will invest mostly in the modernisation of the Railways. Railways have also been focusing on building better domestic infrastructure for manufacturing trains. In this, plans are also being made to reduce foreign dependence. In this Budget, emphasis can be laid on making new Vande Bharat Express trains and Vande Bharat 2.0 with sleeper berth facilities. This train will work like the Rajdhani Express in which passengers will get the facility of sleeper AC coaches. In the Rail Budget 2023, a scheme of Rs 2.70 lakh crore can be announced for 500 Vande Bharat trains, 35 hydrogen trains, 5000 LHB coaches and 58000 wagons. Significantly, during the announcement of the last Rail Budget, the Finance Minister announced the National Rail Plan 2030, under which preparations were made for the development of the Railways. The Centre had talked about investing Rs 1 lakh crore, for the same. By December 2023, 100 per cent electrification of broad gauge railways will be completed. Similarly, a metro rail system is being prepared in two cities of the Tier-2 category and outer parts of Tier-1 category cities, under which Indian Railways will become the world's first 100 per cent green rail service by the end of this year. Along with this, the Centre can announce the adoption of hyperloop technology in the rail budget. In this, pods carrying passengers travel through tubes or tunnels. This technology is faster than bullet trains. Along with this, the government can make announcements regarding infrastructure in this Budget. However, under Vision 2024 projects, in the second half of the decade, multitracking and signalling upgrades of congested routes are targeted, in addition to the commissioning of new dedicated freight corridors and high-speed passenger corridors. The new railway track will be a part of the new vision document of Indian Railways and will be completed in a phased manner. In the next financial year, a target of laying about 4,000 km long lines can be fixed. An announcement to electrify a 7,000 km broad gauge line in the upcoming Budget can also be expected with an allocation of Rs 10,000 crore. With the electrification of a 7,000 km long broad gauge line, the target of electrifying the entire railway network will be achieved. Railway Ministry sets in motion ₹ 2-trillion budgetary push

Patna, Feb 1 (PTI) A key political aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday attacked the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, calling the Union budget "disappointing" for the state. Upendra Kushwaha, who was a part of the Union council of ministers till he resigned in 2018, offered his take on Twitter. "The Union Budget might be historic for developed states. But for Bihar it is disappointing," tweeted Kushwaha, who heads the parliamentary board of the JD(U). He added that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has "let the people of Bihar down by turning a deaf year to the demand for special category status". Kushwaha, who has of late been hitting out at the BJP by his aggressive stance on "denigration" of Emperor Asoka by a Sahitya Akademi Award-winning playwright with alleged links to the saffron party, also added a provocative hashtag to his tweet "desh ke pradhan, Bihar par dein dhyaan". A predictably peeved BJP hit back. "If somebody, despite having been a Union minister, expects the budget to announce special category status, one can only pity his ignorance," said state BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal, whose spat with Kushwaha keeps making headlines. "I have said this before and am saying it again that the central share of revenue for Bihar is greater than what a more populous and productive state like Maharashtra is getting. This demonstrates the Modi government's concern for poor states like Bihar," Jaiswal told reporters. Meanwhile, the sentiment at the Bihar Industries Association (BIA) seemed to be more in sync with that of the chief minister's party which shares power at the Centre. In an interaction with journalists after the budget was tabled, BIA president Arun Agrawal bemoaned that "no steps was taken for accelerating economic growth in the state which has a per capita income of Rs 45,000, as against the national average of Rs 1.35 lakh". The association's member and former president Ram Lal Khaitan said "political will" was needed to ensure that the backward state got its due and urged "elected representatives from all parties" to come together and make themselves heard. The new electric engine was a project undertaken by Diesel Locomotive Works based out of Varanasi. The DLW converted two WDG3A Diesel Locos into a twin electric WAGC3 locomotive of 10,000 horsepower. According to official statements, the government has called it a ‘complete Make in India’ initiative which will result in less greenhouse gas emissions while also making way for better efficient locomotives. This comes in just days after PM Modi unveiled the Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat express ‘Train 18’, which <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/a-day-after-launch-vande-bharat-express-breaks-down-while-returning-from-varanasi-1457476-2019-02-16">broke down</a> on its first commercial run.
