This was mainly due to the mixture of stuttering supply for some major Chinese brands such as OPPO, Vivo and realme, and growing anti-China sentiment," said Shilpi Jain, Research Analyst at Counterpoint.<br /><br />It was compounded by stringent actions taken by the government to ban 59 apps of Chinese origin and delay the import of goods from China amid extra scrutiny.<br /><br />Overall, the smartphone market declined a massive 51 per cent (year-on-year) to just over 18 million in Q2 as April was a washout.<br /><br />The nationwide lockdown resulted in zero shipments during April.<br /><br />"The pandemic wiped out almost 40 days of production as well as the sales of smartphones due to the nation-wide lockdown. The quarter was marred by both demand and supply constraints which led OEMs to rethink their go-to-market strategies," said Prachir Singh, <keyword id="191938" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="senior-research-analyst">Senior Research Analyst</keyword> at Counterpoint.<br /><br />In June, the smartphone shipments registered a mild decline of 0.3 per cent (YoY) thanks to the pent-up demand as well as a push from brands.<br /><br />Vivo with 17 per cent share at third spot was able to manage post lockdown demand well as it exited the quarter with 60 per cent pre-Covid levels.<br /><br />The launch of flagship V19 and adding more smartphones like Y50, Y30 to its Y-series portfolio helped the brand to recover fast in June.<br /><br />"Local manufacturing, R&amp;D operations, attractive value-for-money offerings and strong channel entrenchment by Chinese brands leaves very few options for consumers to choose from. I have one word to describe it – neat.<br /><br />The display takes up almost all the space on the front thanks to thin bezels. On the back, there is a very clean-looking camera module with the Realme branding on the bottom left. <br /><br />The rest of the back is bare and comes with a mirror finish, which can be useful if you want to click selfies using the rear cameras.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="Realme X7 Pro 5G" msid="80968947" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Realme X7 Pro 5G comes with a glass back.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />The phone is light enough to be comfortable during extended hours of use. It also feels solid with no squeaky noises.<br /><br /><strong>Display<br /></strong><br />It comes with a 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. For instance, some other phones with 120Hz displays are the Xiaomi Mi 10i and Mi 10T, OnePlus 8 Pro and 8T, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21 series.<br /><div type="image" title="Realme X7 Pro 5G display" msid="80968861" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Realme X7 Pro 5G display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br />This ticks nearly all the boxes for most smartphone enthusiasts. It is rated at up to 1200 nits brightness, promising to offer great readability.<br /><br />In real life, I found the display to be really good, with excellent colour reproduction. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures that it is extremely smooth. It is perfectly readable under direct sunlight as well.<br /><br /><strong>Performance and battery life<br /></strong><br />The Realme X7 Pro 5G is powered by the Dimensity 1000+ chipset, paired with 8GB of memory and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage.<br /><br />I was slightly skeptical about using a MediaTek chipset instead of Qualcomm, but this phone has put my concerns to rest. <br /><br />While I expected stutters while scrolling and navigating through the interface, in actual usage the phone was as smooth as it can be. I played some graphic intensive games as well and the overall performance was great.<br /><br />In terms of battery life, the Realme X7 Pro 5G lasted me through the evening, thanks to the 4,500mAh battery. But the killer feature is 65W SuperDart charging support.<br /><br />I went from 0-100% in under 40 minutes – that is really, really fast. For context, some other phones with 25W charging can take over an hour to go from 0-100%.<br /><br /><strong>Camera<br /><div type="image" title="Realme X7 Pro 5G camera" msid="80969250" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Realme X7 Pro 5G camera module.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div><br /></strong>The Realme X7 Pro 5G comes with a quad camera setup on the back, with a 64MP camera with a Sony sensor and an 8MP ultrawide angle lens. In regular daylight conditions, I found that the phone captured decent photos, but the colours were marginally washed out. Despite the additional features, I found the experience to be fluid and without any lags. There are some bundled apps that come with the phone, but they can be uninstalled if you don’t want them.<br /><br /><strong>Verdict</strong><br /><br />All things considered, the Realme X7 Pro 5G is a great option if you want almost-flagship experience for a fraction of the price. Realme X7 Pro 5G mobile review – democratising 5G

<br /><ul><li>Qualcomm predicts that smartphone may have 100 megapixel camera sensor by the end of the year. </li><li>The company’s Snapdragon 6-series, 7-series and 8-series can already support cameras sensors of up to 192 megapixels.</li><li>In order to accommodate higher megapixels on to smartphones, Qualcomm expects that vendors will shrink the size of pixels and sensor sizes might increase.</li></ul>The war over which smartphone camera has the highest megapixels petered out in recent years but with the launch of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/xiaomi-redmi-note-7-launched-is-48-megapixel-camera-going-to-change-photos/articleshow/67434240.cms">48 megapixel cameras</a> this year, it seems the race is back on. Judd Heape, Qualcomm’s senior director of product management, <a href="https://www.digit.in/mobile-phones/qualcomm-reveals-100mp-camera-sensors-on-their-way-to-market-later-this-year-46972.html">predicts</a> that users may even see 100 megapixel cameras on their phones by the end of the year. <br /><br />And, by the end of 2020, Heape says expects that smartphone camera sensors may feature a megapixel count in the mid-100s in an interview with Digit.<br /><br /><strong>How do megapixels work?<br /></strong><br />In order to bring 100 megapixel sensors on to phones, there have to be sensors available in the first place. Then the chipset needs to be able to support them. And last of all, phone manufacturers need to build phone capable of handling and supporting high resolution.<br /><br />If we work backwards on how 48 megapixel cameras came into existence on the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/redmi-note-7-pro-launched-in-india-price-specs-features-camera/articleshow/68198984.cms">Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro</a>, Oppo F11 Pro, Honor View 20 or the Vivo V15 Pro — the story plays itself out. All of them use either the Sony IMX586 sensor or the Samsung GM-1, both 48 megapixel cameras sensor. And, the phones either run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675, Helio P70 or Kirin 980 — chipsets capable of supporting camera sensors with higher megapixels.<br /><br />In fact, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 670, 675, 710, 712, 845 and 855 can all support camera sensors of up to 192 megapixels. The spec sheet for the chipsets was only updated recently, but the provision has been available all along. <br /><br />So, the chipsets are ready for 100-megapixel camera sensors, if the sensors exist in the first place. <br /><br />As of now, the 100 megapixel camera sensor that Sony currently has measures 53.7mm x 40.4mm — much too big for a smartphone — and the cameras that use it cost upwards of $48,000 (₹3 million). <br /><br />Once such a sensor does come into the market, manufacturers will have to figure out how to accommodate it without making the phone bulkier. Theoretically, a larger sensor would result in a thicker phone and since the lens of the camera is built into the phone, they will also have to figure out how to go about providing larger and longer focal length. <br /><br />Despite all the buzz around megapixels, Heape points out that users don’t really need anything before 48 megapixels in their phones. The smartphones that already have that capability cause problem with power consumption and create storage issues.<br /><br />The megapixel war that had once been put to bed might be making a return.
