Who is likely to win the election? The total number of seats in Jharkhand assembly is 81 and therefore the winning coalition needs at least 41 seats to be undisputed in government formation.  3. What are the key issues for the voters in the Jharkhand state election? Jharkhand has what is called the 'resource curse' globally. Across the world from Africa to Pakistan to Papua New Guinea, places that are rich in minerals and other natural resources have most of its people suffering from back-breaking poverty. Jharkhand has been no different for many decades until recently. Between 2005-06 and 2015-16, the state lifted millions of people from poverty — the multidimensional poverty reduced to 46.5% from 74.9%, according to a United Nations Report this year — but it still remains one of India's poorest states on many counts. Therefore, "Around 25% eligible voters said employment and matters related to doing business were the most important for them in this election," the C-Voter survey that spoke to nearly 9,000 voters said. The slow implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), which promised to recognise the land rights of forest dwellers, has <a href="https://www.indiaspend.com/in-jharkhand-forest-rights-could-decide-votes-in-77-assembly-seats/" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">reportedly</a> led to dissatisfaction in 62 of the 81 assembly constituencies. That's 77% of the constituencies where voters are angry with the current government, an <a href="https://www.indiaspend.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Revised-AC-State-Brief-of-Jharkhand-converted.pdf">analysis</a> by an independent research group has concluded. 4. Are people happy with the current government in Jharkhand? A broad answer will be 'No', if the C-Voter survey is to be believed. As many as 60% of the 9,000 respondents said they wanted a new Chief Minister immediately. Just as many people were unhappy with their local legislator too. However, most people still believe BJP is the best equipped to solve their problems.  So, while the Chief Minister (CM), Raghubar Das, is losing ground, his party, the BJP, is not. But the BJP has continued to back him as the CM for this election. 5. With the tenure of the present Vidhan Sabha ending on 5 January 2020, the Election Commission has announced the assembly elections to select the next government for Jharkhand that will occupy the state’s throne. The polling in the state will be conducted in 5 phases starting from 30 November 2019 and so the election scene is becoming hot with all the major parties trying their luck to grab as many seats as possible. The major parties in the state of Jharkhand that can influence the election results include BJP, AJSU, JVM, JMM, and INC. BJP BJP faced the 2014 assembly elections in the state in alliance with AJSU (All Jharkhand Students’ Union). Out of the total number of 81 assembly seats, BJP got 37 seats and its ally AJSU contributed its 5 seats. Hence, BJP could form a coalition government in the state with 42 MLAs whereas the total number required for a majority government is 41. Raghubar Das of BJP is the present Chief Minister for Jharkhand. Shri Laxman Gilua is the party leader for the BJP in Jharkhand. AJSU AJSU has hinted that it will not go for ties with BJP this time when the party is now confronting the 2019 assembly elections. Sudesh Kumar Mahto is the party’s Jharkhand state president. Addressing the press people recently, AJSU chief spokesman Deosharan Bhagat said, "Our intention is very clear that a strong government should be formed in Jharkhand and issues relating to Jharkhand should be solved strongly." The party has strongly hinted about facing the elections independently so that they can focus on winning as many seats as possible. In 2014 election, the party won only 5 seats which were contributed to form the coalition government in the state with the BJP. JVM Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) or Jharkhand Development Front (Democratic) was started in 2006 by Babulal Marandi who was formerly a Union Minister and the Jharkhand Chief Minister. He left the BJP on charges that the party had sidelined him and failed to recognize him and hence started JVM. The party president has announced that JVM will face the upcoming assembly elections alone and hence will nominate its candidates to contest from all the 81 seats. In the 2014 assembly elections, the party had won only 2 seats. INC, JMM and RJD INC is facing the 2019 general elections for the Vidhan Sabha in Jharkhand in alliance with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). After providing the details about the pre-poll alliance, the party’s Jharkhand state in-charge RPN Singh has announced that the former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren will be the chief minister candidate for the alliance. As per the alliance terms, the Congress will contest in 31 out of 81 seats. RJD will contest from 7 seats and JMM will nominate its candidates from 43 seats. In 2014 elections for the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha, INC got 6 seats, JMM got 19 seats and RJD did not get any seats.

Jharkhand has 14 seats to contribute to forming the government in the center. The EC has announced that the state will see elections in four phases with the dates of polling for different constituencies of the state scheduled on April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19, during the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. All the parties are vigorously working in the state to grab as many seats as possible. Jharkhand, Bharatiya Janata Party was leading with 12 out of 14 seats, followed by Congress with three seats in indicative leads, according to the Election Commission. BJP-led NDA was expected to win 10 seats and Congress may win 4 seats, according to Today’s Chanakya exit poll survey. In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, the BJP won 12 seats. Jharkhand Lok Sabha elections scene 2019 is turning quite interesting this time. The state of Jharkhand has 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in total. Among these seats one is reserved for the Scheduled castes. And five seats are hallmarked for the Scheduled Tribes. In 2014 general elections for the parliament, Jharkhand gave 12 out of 14 seats to the BJP which emerged as a single strong party from the state proudly marching to form the government in the center. Two seats were bagged by JMM, the native party that has been gaining a strong foothold in the state over the past. Some of the constituencies are turning highly interesting in the state and the results can tell us what surprises are in store. During the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s Ravindra Kumar Pandey won from the Giridih Lok Sabha seat pushing back the prospects of JMM’s Jagarnath Mahto. This time both are seen once again in the scene, but this time Jagarnath Mahto is contesting as a candidate representing the grand alliance. From Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency, Congress is fielding Kirti Azad, a BJP rebel who will fight with Pashupati Nath Singh of the BJP. In the Singhbhum seat, there is a stiff fight between Laxman Giluva of the BJP and Geeta Kora of Congress for the Lok Sabha elections 2019.

Jharkhand Assembly Elections are nearing and the state is now gearing up to select the next government that will take charge of the state’s Vidhan Sabha once the term of the present government ends on 5 January 2020. The election scene in the state is turning highly interesting with some top candidates eyeing the CM seat. We see the following names in the CM race in Jharkhand now. Raghubar Das Raghubar Das is the first non-tribal Chief Minister of Jharkhand who completed the full term of his office on the CM seat after the formation of the state in 2000. Representing BJP, he became the CM following 2014 assembly elections as the party could get 37 seats and form the coalition government with AJSU which contributed its 5 seats to form a majority government with 42 seats. Never to miss another chance to become the CM this time, Raghubar Das might be contesting from Ranchi or Dhanbad in addition to his home constituency Jamshedpur East in the upcoming 2019 assembly elections. Babulal Marandi Babulal Marandi earlier represented BJP and became the first chief minister of the state in the interim government formed for the assembly in November 2000 and remained in power for two years till March 2003. In 2006, he left BJP and formed JVM (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha). Babulal Marandi contested from two seats in 2014 assembly elections. Unfortunately he lost both these seats. This time, he said he will be reattempting to fight from two constituencies as he did in 2014 elections. Hemant Soren in the shadow of Shibu Soren Following Shibu Soren’s retirement from public life, his son Heman Soren emerges from his shadow to provide the leadership to JMM. In 2005 elections, Shibu Soren’s JMM won from 17 seats. Though BJP secured 30 seats, Shibu Soren became the CM and remained in the office only for 10 days as he failed to prove his majority support. Between 2008 and 2010, Shibu Soren became the CM of Jharkhand two times. And the state was put under the president’s rule successively. Shibu Soren also became the CM for four months till January 2009 after Madhu Koda, an independent resigned. Between June and September, Shibu Soren once again became the CM for just five months. This time, JMM, INC and RJD are together facing the assembly elections in the state and the alliance has said the former CM of Jharkhand Hemant Soren will be the CM face of the mahagathbandhan for the upcoming elections. In 2014 assembly elections, Hemant Soren represented his party JMM by contesting from two seats namely Dumka and Barhet, but lost Dumka and could win only from Barhet. Gourav Vallabh The Congress Party is fielding Gaurav Vallabh as the party’s chief minister candidate for the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand. Gaurav Vallabh served as the professor in finance at XLRI Management Institute in Jamshedpur. Born in a family of academicians, he is the first one to join politics. His recent debate in the media with BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra helped him rise to prominence.

BJP Candidate list for Jharkhand in Lok Sabha Election 2019

Jharkahnd has announced that Manoj Kumar Yadav will contest from Chatra Lok Sabha constituency in Jharkhand. Jharkhand has 14 Lok Sabha seats in total. Presently the Chatra seat is held by the BJP since Sunil Kumar Singh won from this seat during 2014 Lok Sabha elections on behalf of BJP. From Ranchi, the party is fielding Suboth Kant Sahay. Lok Sabha Elections 2019: JMM Candidate list for Jharkhand

Patna (Bihar) [India], March 22 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav on Friday condemned the recent arrest of Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind <keyword id="19895701" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kejriwal" source="keywords">Kejriwal</keyword> and stated the INDIA alliance is not the one who gets scared, adding that the INDIA alliance are the ones who fight and win. He also accused the BJP of using government investigation agencies and other constitutional institutions to their advantage in the upcoming elections. He added that the people of INDIA Alliance, stand firmly with the Delhi government. "The way Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested today clearly shows that the BJP is completely scared and wants to fight elections with the help of government investigation agencies and other constitutional institutions. We, the people of the INDIA Alliance, stand firmly with the Delhi government. We are not the ones who get scared, we are the ones who fight and win," he said in a post on X. A team from the Enforcement Directorate arrived at Kejriwal's residence on Thursday to interrogate him regarding the liquor policy case. During a search operation conducted at his residence, Kejriwal was arrested amidst dramatic circumstances, as the AAP convener failed to obtain interim protection from arrest in the liquor policy case from the Delhi High Court. The Enforcement Directorate took him to the agency's headquarters later. A medical team also arrived at the ED office. AAP workers and leaders rallied behind Kejriwal following his arrest while leaders of the INDIA bloc also extended their support for the AAP leader. BJP leaders extended their support to the ED's actions against the Delhi Chief Minister, emphasizing "truth had to prevail". Pointing to the arrests of two opposition chief ministers and the freezing of a bank account of the Congress party, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi on Thursday asked the BJP to stop doing politics behind the Enforcement Directorate. She accused the BJP of attempting to win elections through undemocratic means and urged them to engage in fair political competition rather than using the ED as a tool or weapon for their political agenda. "Today, the BJP is murdering democracy. These are the odds of who will win the 2016 election 

Following Maharashtra and Haryana, Jharkhand is the third state going for assembly (Vidhan Sabha) polls after the Narendra Modi government came to power for its consecutive second term. Presently, the state of Jharkhand is ruled by the BJP government in alliance with the All Jharkhand Students' Union (AJSU). The present Chief Minister of the state is Raghubar Das. BJP assumed power in the state assembly after winning in the 2014 assembly elections from 37 seats while its ally AJSU contributed 5 seats for the alliance.
