New Delhi, Realty firm <keyword id="19949512" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="godrej-properties" source="keywords">Godrej Properties</keyword> Ltd on Tuesday said it has acquired a 4-acre land parcel in Bengaluru to develop a luxury housing project and expects a revenue of Rs 1,000 crore through sales of apartments. In a regulatory filing, Godrej Properties informed that the company has "purchased a 4-acre land parcel on an outright basis." The land is located in <keyword id="20031891" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="yeshwanthpur" source="keywords">Yeshwanthpur</keyword> abutting the National Highway - 75, one of the prime locations in Bengaluru. This project is estimated to have a developable potential of about 0.7 million square feet of saleable area comprising primarily of premium residential apartments, it said. Godrej Properties said that the project has an "estimated revenue potential of Rs 1,000 crore with scope to increase to Rs 1,250 crore basis additional 1-acre land acquisition, making it a 5-acre parcel." Godrej Properties, which is part of business conglomerate Godrej Group, is one of the leading real estate developers in the country. <keyword id="20031890" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="gaurav-pandey" source="keywords">Gaurav Pandey</keyword>, MD &amp; CEO, Godrej Properties said, "Yeshwanthpur is an important micro market for us, and we are happy to add this land parcel to our portfolio." This acquisition will further strengthen the company's presence in Bengaluru, he added. Seeking to encash strong housing demand, Godrej Properties has set a target of acquiring multiple land parcels during this fiscal that can help generate revenue of around Rs 15,000 crore post-development. Last fiscal, Godrej Properties was very aggressive on land acquisition and added 18 new land parcels with sales potential of Rs 32,000 crore post-development. Godrej Properties focuses on four markets -- Delhi-NCR, <keyword id="19932542" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mumbai-metropolitan-region" source="keywords">Mumbai Metropolitan Region</keyword> (MMR), Bengaluru and Pune, although it has projects in some other locations as well. Godrej Properties had sold properties worth Rs 12,232 crore in the previous fiscal. Already, during April-September 2023-24, Godrej Properties has achieved 48 per cent growth in its sales booking to Rs 7,288 crore, as against Rs 4,929 crore in the year-ago period.

The State Rice Mill Owners' Association has stopped all activities and has demanded that the central government reverse its decision and the <keyword id="6355040" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="gst-council" source="Orion">GST Council</keyword> take a review of its decision to impose GST on foodgrains. The GST will apply on foodgrains from July 18. It will shoot up the prices of rice, jower, ragi, which is going to impact the poor, middle and labour class. Due to the inflation, the middle and poor class have no capacity to cope up with price rise in most needed foodgrains which are used to prepare staple food. Kogundi Bakkeshappa, Davanagere District Rice Mill Owners Association President stated that the owners of rice mills have been making submissions in this regard since long back and they haven't got any response. "If GST is implemented by the Central government, we will meet and discuss the future course of action," he said. Foodgrains like rice, wheat, pulses and others were exempted from tax since 1983 considering that they are used widely by people. After GST, a quintal of rice will cost Rs 300 to Rs 400 more. The prices of ragi, pulses, and jowar will also see a rise. None of this could lead the BBMP authorities to take charge of the situation and ensure these citizens their basic rights. As the nation lends them support for their peaceful ways of taking up the cause, it seems nothing but a mass rebellion can only now wake up the sleeping authorities.
