You can do this by simply turning off electronic devices like fans, ACs or TVs when they are not in use. This will save a considerable amount of electricity and reduce your carbon footprint significantly.

Instead of renting a car or a bike, you can use public transport options like buses, taxis or metro. This will have a direct impact on your carbon footprint.

When you travel with other people the carbon emissions are spread across multiple individuals instead of just one or two which reduces the carbon footprint per person.

Whenever possible, take a direct flight as it takes the shortest possible route, hence using less fuel. Also, planes release most carbon during takeoffs and landings, so taking a direct flight means fewer emissions.

Every place has its own unique food in the form of local cuisines that let you explore the local culture and tradition. By eating locally you not only support the local economy but also reduce the carbon emissions which otherwise would have been caused because of importing the food.

This is not specific to travelling but some areas you are travelling to may have scarcity of water. So, be mindful of your water usage whenever you are travelling.

With a huge number of different food options, it becomes a bit difficult to not overindulge. But, whenever you are travelling make sure that you buy only the amount of food which won’t go to waste.

You can either opt to stay in properties that are practising sustainability or you can choose a homestay or a hostel as these tend to have lesser carbon emissions than a commercial hotel.

Carefully consider what you are going to pack because the lighter your luggage is the less fuel it takes to transport it. For instance, you can take your toiletries in smaller containers instead of the full-fledged packs they come in.
