Zynga has its third CEO in three years - Here's what it needs to fix
Zynga cofounder Mark Pincus ended his second run as the company's CEO Wednesday, less than a year after taking the reins in April 2015. Frank Gibeau, a former EA mobile exec, will replace Pincus and be in charge of turning around the once-hot online gaming company.
The company's third CEO change in roughly three years comes as Zynga faces a lot of problems. One of the biggest concerns is its flat revenue growth. As this chart by Statista shows, Zynga's revenue has been stagnant at best, while its profitability hasn't much improved over the years.
Worse, the number of active users is also slipping. In its most recent earnings, Zynga said the number of daily active users dropped 24% to 18 million, while monthly active users were down 30% to 68 million.
