drone race

Rob Price/BI

Earlier this month, Britain had its first-ever "FPV," or first person view, indoor drone race.

In FPV drone racing pilots strap on goggles, which stream video from a camera attached to the front of the drone. This give competitors a much more immersive experience as they race their flying machines around the track at high speeds.

Right now, FPV drone racing is a tiny, niche activity. A few dozen people attend each event. But its organisers and participants have very high hopes for the sport.
