eCommerce War Hots Up With Amazon’s Diwali Dhamaka Sale
IndiaSmallbusiness1 min read

After Flipkart’s Big Billion Day sale, Amazon is set to lock horns with Indian eCommerce giants as it has now come up with its ‘Diwali Dhamaka Week’ scheme to lure customers. Its week-long (October 10-16) online sale dhamaka kicked off today morning at 7 am.

Amazon has announced to offer more lucrative deals than its competitors Flipkart and Snapdeal. It has also renovated its website and made it look more appealing. It has added some user-friendly features like creating a wish list. However, the biggest challenge for Amazon would be the strength of its inventory. Flipkart had failed to anticipate the huge rush and could not meet the customers’ demand.

Flipkart’s ‘Big Billion Day’ sale fiasco has provided an edge to Amazon’s ‘Diwali Dhamaka Week.’ Moreover, with the sale spanning for a week, the traffic is expected to remain low and help website sustain the load.

Another eCommerce giant, Snapdeal, had also announced its own sale, coinciding with Flipkart’s Big Billion Day sale. Snapdeal claimed to have clocked sales of a ‘crore a minute,’ which is almost the same as Flipkart's claim. Flipkart and Snapdeal have touched the Rs 6,000-crore revenue mark, but Amazon has been growing robustly since it came to India 15 months ago.

The eCommerce war this festive season is set to hots up even more as all major players –Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon – are looking to woo consumers with big discounts. Both Snapdeal and Amazon plan to expand their offerings in the coming weeks.
