Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Tanu Weds Manu Returns

The poster deserves a special mention because of the intelligent way that the poster of its prequel Tanu Weds Manu was imbibed in this. As we can see, the poster from TWM was given a nice touch to it, when Datto’s carefree character was added in the poster of the sequel. While in the original, Tanu slept at her wedding chair, the glorious sleep was taken by Datto, as Tanu looked at her. Manu, meanwhile, maintained the same gleeful look in both posters.

The movie showed Akshay Kumar as Gabbar, an anti-corruption one-man army who motivates youngsters to fight corruption. What caught our eye though was the look that Akshay’s character carried in the poster. It instantly reminded us of the famous hairstyle, especially the side swept curl of Amjad Khan, when he played the iconic villain Gabbar in the equally iconic movie Sholay, 40 years back.

Sonam Kapoor played a con girl in this movie, while Varun Sharma, Rajkummar Rao and Pulkit Samrat played the parallel characters that get conned into marriage. The poster intrigued us, and different expressions that all four carried did manage to raise our curiosity levels.

Seeing the petite Anushka Sharma in a rugged look with an iron rod in her hand made us look at the poster again, and writing about the movie can’t be complete without a special mention to Sharma’s performance in her production debut. Kudos!

Imagine the chocolate boy from next door sporting a heavy beard and shouting at the top of his lungs. Difficult to even think of, isn’t it? This is why the poster of Badlapur, featuring Varun Dhawan, won our hearts.

Masaan

The list couldn’t have been complete without mentioning Masaan, the film that won two awards at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival along with a thunderous unhindered standing ovation. The poster well catches the emotions and complexities of every character from the movie, which starred Sanjai Mishra, Richa Chadda, Shweta Tripathi and Vicky Kaushal.
