Tata Motors dominates the EV car market in December with Tiago leading the charge

Tata Motors, which offers four electric cars in India sold 4,820 cars in December 2023, commanding a 67.5 percent market share as per Vahan data.

Out of the four EVs on offer by Tata Motors, Tiago has been the highest selling model for the company for some time now.

MG Motor

MG Motor, which sells the MG ZS EV and the MG Comet is next on the list, with a sale of 952 cars, occupying a 13.3 percent market share in the electric four-wheeler segment.

Mahindra

Mahindra, which currently has only one electric car, the XUV400, sold 662 units of the car and occupies a 9.3 percent market share.

BYD

Chinese automaker BYD is next on the list. The company, which sells two electric cars in India sold 168 cars in December 2023, occupying a 2.4 percent market share.

BMW

German automaker BMW which offers four electric cars in India sold 161 vehicles in the country and occupies a 2.3 percent market share.

Hyundai

Hyundai, which is targeting the premium electric car segment with its Kona Electric and Ioniq 5 sold 123 vehicles and occupies a 1.7 percent market share.

Mercedes-Benz

Premium car maker Mercedes-Benz, which offers four electric cars, sold 80 vehicles in India and has a market share of 1.1 percent.

Volvo

Volvo, which offers two electric cars in India sold 54 models of the vehicle in December 2023 and occupies a 0.8 percent market share.

Citroen

Citroen, which is currently offering only one electric car, the eC3, sold 49 vehicles and occupies a 0.7 percent market share.

Kia

The Kia EV6 is the only electric car sold in India from the house of Kia and the company sold 30 vehicles in December 2023 to occupy a 0.4 percent market share.
