A deeper look at the bowling figures of the Indian team seam bowlers, in the recently concluded five match series versus Australia, shows that the young crop has some distance to bridge between themselves and the likes of Bumrah and Shami.

In the five match T20 series versus Australia, which India won 4-1, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side tried out five seam bowlers. In the spin department, it stuck to Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel.

Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Deepak Chahar and Prasidh Krishna got a chance in the series. In this post we look at the performances of these pacemen in India’s bowling unit.

Arshdeep Singh had expensive figures of 2/40, DNP, 1/44, 1/46 and 0/41 in the five match series. Thus, for his four wickets, his economy rate was above 10 runs an over in each appearance. Overall, he gave 171 runs for his four wickets.

Avesh Khan who played the first three T20s (0/39, 1/33 and 1/37) of the series picked two wickets only and gave away 109 runs in the process.

Medium pacer, Mukesh Kumar played four of the five scheduled matches. He started well with a three wicket haul and had an economical outing in the fifth game. In total he picked four wickets and conceded 146 runs.

Allrounder Deepak Chahar got only one outing in the series in the second match. He returned with figures of 2/44.

Prasidh Krishna featured in the first three matches of the series and his first outing was forgetful with figures of 0/68. He did relatively better in the other two games with figures of 3/41 and 1/50.

India deployed only Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel as its two spinners in the series. Bishnoi picked 10 wickets in the series while Axar was by far the most economical bowler.
