Remember what a big deal the original iPhone was when it was unveiled in 2007? Well, the end of an era is upon us.
The company's support page lends some understanding to what this means in practical terms:
"Obsolete products are those that were discontinued more than seven years ago. Apple has discontinued all hardware service for obsolete products with no exceptions. Service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products."
Beginning June 13th, people still packing an original 2007-era iPhone will no longer be able to have their phones officially serviced through an Apple Store. But AppleCare and third-party authorized service centers recognize the good ol' phone as "vintage," not "obsolete," and will be happy to help you out.
