BSE Sensex witnessed losses exceeding 600 points on Friday due to selling pressure in financials and experts pointed at weak global cues for the losses on Friday. Nifty also shed over 150 points to close at 22,420. Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) stocks emerged as the winners, with "HUDCO" rising by 12 per cent. Globally, stocks were higher on Friday as Big Tech gains lifted Wall Street shares, while Japan's yen hit a fresh 34-year low.
