IndiaAhmedabad, Jul 13 () The number of COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat mounted by 164 to 23,259 on Monday, state health department said.
With three more patients succumbing to the infection, the death toll has risen to 1,522, it said.
Ahmedabad has been reporting less than 200 cases every day since July 3.
A total of 125 patients were discharged in the day, taking the number of the recovered cases in the district to 17,947.
152 of the 164 new cases were reported from the limits of the Ahmedabad municipal corporation and 12 cases from rural areas, the department said.
The number of COVID-19 cases from rural parts of the district rose by 12 to 978 in the day. Out of them, 815 patients have recovered from the infection, a release said.
Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has raised the amount of fine for not wearing face masks at public places from Rs 200 to Rs 500.
The number of micro-containment areas in the city now stands at 195, with the civic body adding 123 new areas on Monday and removing six others. KA PD NSK NSK
