India is likely to cross one lakh new cases mark in the coming week. According to a report by the Times of India, India might have crossed this mark this last week, however, due to a technical glitch in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) since Saturday, the daily data of several states like Maharashtra, Kerala were not reflected.

It reported over 17,000 new cases and 21 deaths today on June 27 with 94,420 as active caseload, as of June 27, as per the data by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This is a jump of at least 45% in the daily COVID cases reported from the day before.

Overall, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.62% while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 3.39%.

Maharashtra and Kerala remain as the worst-hit states in the country. On Sunday, June 26, Maharashtra recorded 6,493 new cases and five deaths as the cases which were tabulated on Saturday couldn’t be added due to the glitch.
