India is likely to cross one lakh new cases mark in the coming week. According to a report by the Times of India, India might have crossed this mark this last week, however, due to a technical glitch in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) since Saturday, the daily data of several states like Maharashtra, Kerala were not reflected.

It reported over 17,000 new cases and 21 deaths today on June 27 with 94,420 as active caseload, as of June 27, as per the data by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This is a jump of at least 45% in the daily COVID cases reported from the day before.

Uddhav Thackeray-led state Maharashtra has also witnessed a 26% rise in the number of ICU admissions in the past week, according to data by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Kerala’s Covid graph breached the 4,000 mark for the second consecutive time on Friday last week, June 24. The state recorded over 4,000 new cases today as well, June 27.

The national capital of India also jumped from 666 new cases on Saturday to 1,891 on Sunday. The number of cases this week is expected to remain similar as the previous week.
