Pune is set to be in a partial lockdown from tomorrow, April 3rd, for seven days as the district has seen a sudden but massive spike in COVID-19 cases.

‘Night Curfew from 6 am to 6 pm to be imposed in the district from April 3’, announced Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao.

Eating joints, bars and hotels will remain closed for seven days, while home delivery orders will be permitted. The order further said that public gatherings will not be allowed except for funerals with the limitation of 20 people and weddings with a maximum of 50 people allowed.

Additionally, all religious places like temple, mosques will remain shut for the next seven days. Educational institutes like schools and colleges will also be closed till April 30.

Maharashtra’s Pune district recorded 8,011 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday for the second consecutive day. The fatality count due to COVID-19 has reached 10,039 in the district as of April 1.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is set to address the people at 8.30 pm today in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases.
