had sparked controversy after he blamed bikinis and short skirts for creating
law and order problems in the coastal state. He had said in a statement,
"Young girls wearing short skirts in nightclubs are a threat to the Goan
culture. This habit of young girls wearing short dresses everywhere does not
fit the Goan culture. What will happen to it if this continues? We should not
allow this. It should be stopped."
Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar
Parsekar had advised nurses not to protest in the sun as it would darken their complexions.
“Hunger strike in sun will make you dark and ruin
marital prospects,” he had said.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar
When he was the Chief Minister of Goa, he had faced flak after he said, “If I rape, I face only one inspector, if I start small scale industry, there are 26 inspectors." Later on Parrikar said he was misquoted and his remarks were taken in the wrong context.
