Kirari Vidhan Sabha constituency of Delhi assembly is located within the jurisdiction of the North West Delhi Parliamentary seat. In this town, the assembly elections will be held in February 2020 as the tenure of the present government is ending on 22 February 2020. Preparing for the upcoming polls for the assembly of Delhi, Kirari will vote for its contesting candidates along with the other 69 constituencies of Delhi assembly going for the said polls. The total number of electors in the seat of Kirari is 242802 with this composition showing up 139925 men, 102848 women and 29 third gender voters.
During the last assembly elections held in 2015, AAP candidate Rithuraj Govind bagged this seat and became the MLA by overtaking Anil Jha of BJP. The votes they got were 97727 and 52555 respectively. Before AAP snatched this assembly seat for itself during the 2015 elections, BJP held this seat for two consecutive terms. The total votes of 97727 bagged by AAP candidate Rithuraj Govind in 2015 assembly elections was the highest ever scored by any contesting candidate from this assembly constituency.
In 2008 general elections for the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, BJP’s Anil Jha got 30005 votes and overtook the NCP candidate Pushpraj who scored 20481 votes. In the 2013 assembly elections held in the constituency, Anil Jha of BJP had secured 72283 votes which helped him win over the AAp candidate Rajan Prakash who got 23757 votes. Kirari assembly is a general seat open to all candidates.
