After a long trying over the seats they will share, BJP and Shiv Sena have come forward to face the elections together. BJP has denied tickets to 12 sitting MLAs this time. The important figures who have lost a chance to try their luck on behalf of the saffron party include Vinod Tawde, Eknath Khadse and Prakash Mehta. Some new entrants who have come into the fold of BJP from other parties have been given tickets to face the assembly elections 2019. Abhimanyu Pawar, the personal assistant of Maharashtra Chief Minister has been given a chance to fight in this election from the Ausa constituency.

Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Chief Minister will fight from Nagpur South West. Chandrakant Patil will be facing his maiden elections on behalf of BJP and he will be fielded from Kothrud. Though BJP has a policy of retiring those who have crossed 75 years, the party has given a ticket to Haribhau Bagade, the sitting BJP MLA and present Assembly speaker aged 75. The party is repeating 91 sitting MLAs once again in the upcoming polls. The party has also announced that Shivendrasinh Abhaysingraje Bhosale, the descendant of Shivaji Mahraj’s family will contest from Satara.

The Congress Party has also released its two lists of contesting candidates for the assembly polls 2019. As part of the first list, the name of former chief minister Ashok Chavan is seen who will be contesting from the Bhokar constituency. Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan will fight from the Karad South constituency. The state party president Vijay alias Balasaheb Thorat will be fielded from Sangamner. The other important contestants who will represent Congress will include Dheeraj Vilasrao Deshmukh, the son of former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will fight from Latur (Rural) seat. Subhash R. Dhote will field from the Rajura seat.

In a seat sharing agreement, the Congress Party and the Nationalist Congress Party have decided to contest in 125 seats each, said Sharad Pawar, the leader of NCP. These two parties will leave the remaining 38 seats for their allies to contest. As per the agreement, some seats will be shared with the Congress and the party is also keen to give chances to new faces this time.

IN 2014 elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party bagging 122 seats. The Congress and NCP had won from 42 seats and 41 seats respectively.

Before the seat sharing agreement between the two parties, there had been several walk-outs from these parties. Some high profile candidates exited from these parties and joined either BJP or Shiv Sena.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has declared that it will take part in the upcoming assembly elections. Party President Raj Thackeray has also given an indication that the party might fight from 125 seats in total.
