From the sleek and feature-packed iPhone 15 Pro to the powerhouse Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, each flagship smartphone has thrown down the gauntlet, aiming to become the best smartphone in India.

There were several notable launches in the year 2023 in the flagship segment. In this post, I look at some of the top flagship smartphones that were launched in India in 2023, from foldables to traditional flagship smartphones.

OnePlus Open

OnePlus Open

OnePlus may have been slightly late to the foldables segment in India but it has made its presence felt with the OnePlus Open. The Open is the first foldable smartphone from the company and is based on the Oppo Find N3. The device comes with a sleek hinge built using aerospace-grade materials, making it durable and thin.

With its sleek foldable design and focus on immersive experiences, the OnePlus Open stands poised to become a game-changer in the foldables segment and the company’s future in the premium segment.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro

Apple iPhone 15 Pro

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro is part of the latest iPhone 15 lineup from the Cupertino giant. While it is not the top-end offering in the series, it offers the best balance between features and price. It is a sleek and stylish phone with a big, beautiful screen with a high refresh rate. The device comes with a strong and lightweight titanium design and features the company’s latest A17 Pro silicon.

The iPhone 15 Pro also comes with a much-awaited feature – a USB Type-C port, ditching the company’s proprietary lightning connector.

Samsung has been leading the foldable smartphones segment for a while now and while it is no longer the only premium foldable in the country, it is a great option for those looking for a foldable. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, which is a faster version of the chipset. The company has managed to improve the hinge, allowing it to fold completely flat.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphone offers a good display, albeit the crease is still visible. It comes with good cameras and the company’s reliable OneUI.

Google Pixel 8 Pro

Google Pixel 8 Pro

The Pixel 8 Pro, a fan favourite for stock Android fans is the next device on the list. With the device, Google has made big inroads with on-device machine learning algorithms, thanks to the company’s Tensor G3 chipset. Not much has changed in terms of design, apart from some new colour options. Apart from offering AI features, the device comes with a crisp display, great cameras and a smooth UI.

The Pixel 8 Pro’s powerful hardware is complemented by the company’s feature-rich software and with this in mind, the device comes with seven years of updates.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is the top-end offering of the company’s premium S series, which needs no introduction. Being the company’s top offering, the S23 Ultra comes with all the features you can think of for a smartphone, including S Pen support, making it a great device for those looking to work, game, or just play around with. Samsung has packed the device with a powerful chipset, excellent cameras and an amazing display, which however might be slightly big for some.

Samsung is well-known for its smooth UI and this stands true for the S23 Ultra as well. The powerful hardware is well complimented by the company’s OneUI.

Xiaomi 13 Pro

Xiaomi 13 Pro

The Xiaomi 13 Pro, the company’s most premium offering in the country, is one of the other good premium smartphones launched in the country. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is a camera centric smartphone and is easily one of the best devices you can get in India if you are looking to capture images. Apart from a good camera, the device also offers a powerful processor, good display and a decent battery with fast charging support.
