What to expect – iPad Pro with M4 chipset and more

Apple is expected to introduce the new iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets at the Let Loose event today. While the iPad Air is expected to be a small upgrade, the iPad Pro is expected to receive a massive overhaul. This comes amid a decline in Apple’s tablet shipments over the past few months. In Q1 2024, Apple’s tablet shipments declined by 8.5% year-on-year.

The iPad Pro is expected to feature a revamped design, offering thinner bezels, a thinner enclosure and the camera placed in a landscape format. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is expected to offer a 20% reduction in size, while the 11-inch model is expected to be 15% smaller.

The iPad Pro is expected to be the most powerful tablet from the company yet, with Apple equipping them with the M4 chipset, which it is expected to announce at the event. The MacBook currently runs on the M3 chipset and while it was expected to be the first device to get the M4 chipset, the iPad Pro may get it first.

The M4 chipset has reportedly been designed with artificial intelligence (AI) features in mind and it is expected to boost the iPad Pro’s AI functionalities.

In addition to this, the iPad Pro is expected to receive another major upgrade in the form of OLED displays. As per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the OLED display is expected to offer better brightness, colour accuracy and enhanced visuals.

The company is also expected to launch a new Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad, an aluminium body and a refreshed design. The new Apple Pencil is expected to offer a new “squeeze” feature to enable certain actions and may also come with support for visionOS.
