  • Here’s everything you need to know about the company’s annual developer conference.
Cupertino tech giant Apple today announced it will host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. The event will be held in-person for select developers and students at the Apple Park, while others can watch it online.

WWDC is the annual developer conference hosted by Apple, wherein the company focuses on the software side of things. It is expected to announce the latest features for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and more at the event.

Developers attending the event are allowed to engage with Apple engineers, get one-on-one lab appointments and more, allowing them to understand how to integrate new and upcoming OS features into their applications.

“WWDC is all about sharing new ideas and providing our amazing developers with innovative tools and resources to help them make something even more wonderful,” said Susan Prescott, vice president, Worldwide Developer Relations, Apple.

WWDC 2024 schedule and where to watch

WWDC 2024 will kick off on June 10 and go on until June 14. The keynote, which will include all the major announcements, is scheduled for June 10.

Interested users can watch the keynote on Apple.com, the Apple Developer App, the Developer Website, Apple TV and the company’s YouTube channel.

What to expect from the WWDC 2024

The main highlight of WWDC 2024 is expected to be iOS 18, which is rumoured to be the biggest update to the iPhone in years, due to the addition of artificial intelligence (AI) features.

Apple has been working on generative AI features for its devices for some time now. A few reports have also suggested that Apple may partner with Google to use Gemini to boost the iPhone’s AI functionalities. The company will reportedly use Gemini or OpenAI to handle cloud-based AI features while retaining its generative features on-device.

The company is expected to introduce Gen AI features for the device and improve iMessage and Siri’s ability to auto complete sentences and handle questions.

Apple is also expected to introduce other features such as auto-generated playlists based on the user’s mood, AI-assisted coding in Xcode, AI features for Keynote, Pages and more.

iPhone users will also get the ability to customise their home screen, including moving app icons around.

Some of the features we will see in iOS 18 will also be introduced with the macOS 15 and iPadOS.
