 The winner of the honour hails from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. She is a Delhi University alumnus. Her responsibilities include overseeing the UK’s largest overseas network, attending media interactions and stakeholder meetings. On October 4, when she was the High Commissioner of the Day, she met business leaders and foreign policy experts. She also visited Apeejay School in Delhi to promote gender inclusivity with ‘Changing Moves Changing Minds’ programme. She also interacted with women workers in the unorganised sector along with a discussion with a beneficiary of Facebook’s GOAL (Going Online as Leaders) programme. “Leading daily briefings, interacting with stakeholders from the UK and India, and experiencing the richness of multiculturalism has been a great experience. I believe education is a powerful tool that can help achieve gender equality,” Ayesha said. The competition was held for women between the ages of 18 and 23. “I greatly enjoyed working for and with Ayesha for the day. To be chosen for the event, interested candidates were asked to record and send a one-minute video on gender equality. <ul><li>The UK government has announced a two-year post-study work visa to boost career opportunities in the country for international students — including Indians. </li><li>This new scheme will apply to all international students having UK immigration status, who have completed an undergraduate or higher educational degree from any UK university. </li><li>It will enable students to work in the field of their choice for two years after the completion of the course. </li><li>Almost half of all <keyword id="43976" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-students">Indian students</keyword> in the UK over the last decade chose a STEM subject as their field of study.</li></ul>The UK government is making it easier to for its foreign students to find jobs in the country. It today announced a two-year post-study work visa for international students. And the increasing number of Indian students in the UK, have a lot to gain. Their numbers doubled in the last three years. This new scheme will apply to all international students having UK immigration status, who have completed an undergraduate or higher educational degree from any UK university. “The new graduate route will mean talented international students, whether in science and maths or technology and engineering, can study in the UK and then gain valuable work experience as they go on to build successful careers,” said Home Secretary Priti Patel. This will allow students to gain more industry-relevant skills and experience in their chosen field of education. The UK has already fast-tracked visas for research scholars. It aims to boost STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) sector in the country. In fact, almost half of all Indian students in the UK over the last decade chose a STEM subject as their field of study. According to the British High Commission, 96% of Indians willing to go to the UK, have received UK visas. “This will help ensure that the UK remains one of the best destinations for students across the world. Overall, nearly 22,000 Indians received student visas for the year ending June 2019, which is 15,000 more than last year. Good news for Indian students in the UK, as government will now grant them 2-year work visa

<ul><li>United Kingdom witnesses a dramatic jump in the number of Indians visiting the country. </li><li>The number of Indian students taking up courses in the UK has doubled over the last three years. </li><li>Indians have received more number of skilled visas —56,000 — compared to other countries. </li><li>Of the total visit visas, almost half (49%) of them went to Indians or Chinese.</li></ul>United Kingdom witnesses a dramatic jump in Indians visitors. Nearly 22,000 Indians received study visas for the year ending June 2019, which is 15,000 more than last year. Indians also have received more of skilled visas at 56,000 — which is higher than China. This is over half (52%) of the total visas granted globally and a 5% increase from last year. Hence, 42% more Indians visited the country. “It shows that the UK continues to be a welcoming place for Indians to work, study and vacation. Indian fans who travelled to the UK for the Cricket World Cup in England and Wales was even greater. Over 500,000 Indians received visit visas for the year ending June 2019, according to the latest quarterly report on Migration Statistics by the UK’s Office for National Statistics. To apply, they will have to record and send a one-minute video on why gender equality is important and describing their inspiration on the same.
