A <keyword id="42034" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="jaguar" source="Orion">Jaguar</keyword> I-Pace electric car caught fire while being charged at a garage in the US -- the fourth such battery fire in the I-Pace series (that costs upwards of Rs 1 crore), which is Jaguar's first and only all-electric vehicle.<br /><br />According to <keyword id="14619753" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electrek-jaguar" source="Orion">Electrek, Jaguar</keyword> uses LG battery cells like the Bolt EV and <keyword id="6672925" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kona-ev" source="Orion">Kona EV</keyword>, which were both recalled for battery fire risks recently.<br /><br />The latest battery fire was reported by Jaguar I-Pace owner <keyword id="14619752" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="gonzalo-salazar" source="Orion">Gonzalo Salazar</keyword> in the state of Florida.<br /><br />"On June 16, I plugged the car in before going to bed. In the morning of June 17, I woke up and unplugged the car. Later that morning, I set out to run some errands. I drove about 12 miles that morning before returning back home and parking the car back in the garage, leaving the garage door open. As I was doing things at home, I heard pops coming from the garage," he told <keyword id="4676482" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="electrek" source="Orion">Electrek</keyword>.<br /><br />"I decided to go see where the sounds were coming from, and upon walking into the garage, I faced a thick wall of smoke," he added.<br /><br />He then called 911 for help, as the car got engulfed in flames rapidly.<br /><br />"The fire department showed up and poured flame retardant foam on the vehicle until the fire was extinguished," said Salazar, adding that "there was debris flying everywhere so I kept my distance".<br /><br />Chevy and <keyword id="596" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="hyundai" source="Orion">Hyundai</keyword> -- which also used LG Chem cells in the Kona EV -- had made massive recalls in the past.<br /><br />In the case of the Jaguar I-Pace, the automaker also uses LG pouch battery cells in its electric vehicle.<br /><br />In 2018, an I-Pace caught fire while it was parked in a driveway in the <keyword id="44173" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="netherlands" source="Orion">Netherlands</keyword>.<br /><br />"Last year, another I-Pace caught fire while it was parked in a driveway in Oregon. The representative said the company planned to begin deliveries late in the summer.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">"<span>Delivery timelines for certain customers have been affected by </span><span>prioritization of market specific orders to best meet the exceptional demand of these vehicles,</span>" the representative said.</p><p>According to Electrek, all of the delayed orders it had seen were for the standard version of the vehicle, rather than the premium version.</p><p>Jaguar did not comment on whether customers for the premium version of the I-Pace were being prioritized over customers for the standard version.</p><p>The I-Pace is Jaguar's first fully-electric vehicle and will compete against <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/tesla">Tesla</a>'s <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/tesla-model-x">Model X</a> SUV. The I-Pace has a 240-mile range, 394 horsepower, 512 pound-feet of torque, and the ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The Model X has a range between 237-289 miles and a 0-60 time between 2.9-4.9 seconds, depending on the trim. The I-Pace starts at $70,495, while the Model X starts at $86,300.</p><p>The I-Pace has received <a href="https://www.caranddriver.com/jaguar/i-pace">positive</a> <a href="https://www.motortrend.com/cars/jaguar/i-pace/2019/2019-jaguar-i-pace-review-london-to-berlin-electric-jag/">reviews</a> so far. The vehicle will have over 279 miles of range, 408 horsepower, around 564 pound-feet of torque, a 0-60 mph acceleration time of around 5.1 seconds, and the ability to charge from 10% to 80% capacity in 40 minutes when using a DC fast charger. Mercedes-Benz has said.</p><p>The EQC will also have semi-autonomous driver-assistance features that will be able to control the vehicle's speed in heavy traffic, provide steering assistance, and brake to avoid or limit the damage from a collision, according to Mercedes-Benz.</p><p>The EQC will compete with luxury electric SUVs like Tesla's Model X, Jaguar's I-Pace, and Audi's upcoming E-Tron.</p><p>After the EQC, Mercedes-Benz will release an electric sedan.
