<ul><li><keyword id="19936553" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="budget" source="keywords">Budget</keyword> is a non-event for equity markets, say experts, as indices traded flat with negative bias.</li><li>PSU Bank stocks rallied as bond markets cheered FM’s fiscal consolidation path.</li><li>Railway stocks which gained ahead of the speech, closed in the red. </li></ul>India’s Interim Budget 2024 did not enthuse the stock markets on Thursday, even as the finance minister increased FY25’s capital outlay by 11.1% to ₹11.11 lakh crore. The benchmark indices traded flat for the most of the session. Sensex fell by 100 points and <keyword id="19896381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="keywords">Nifty</keyword> by 28 points as they did not find any cues for upward march. Almost all the sectoral indices closed in the red except banks, especially PSU banks. Bond markets cheered and their yields came down sharply as FM set the fiscal deficit of FY25 at 5.1% of GDP. It also triggered buying in PSU banks with Punjab Sind Bank going up by 7%. UCO Bank and Indian Overseas Bank also went up around 6% each. "As expected, VIX has cooled off after the budget event which primarily has been a non-event for most of the market except PSU Banks and auto stocks which have seen most of the buying action. Nifty still trades near to its resistance area of 21,750-21,800 along with dominant shorts in index futures from FIIs. Bulls have to clear this area for any further action on the upside,” said <keyword id="19950185" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rahul-sharma" source="keywords">Rahul Sharma</keyword>, head of technical and derivatives research, JM Financial Services. The rest of the market moved on non-Budget cues. Auto stocks were also amongst those closed in the green as they released sales data. Maruti announced its earnings on Wednesday, and was one of the top gainers on Nifty; along with Cipla, Eicher, Power Grid and SBI Life. PayTM was locked in the lower circuit as RBI imposed restrictions on it on Wednesday. Infra &amp; realty flat, rail stocks in the red The FM touched up on most infrastructure projects including rural housing and solar power. She also announced three railway economic corridors — energy, mineral and cement corridors; port connectivity corridors, and high traffic density corridors. “The announcement in the Union Budget 2024 regarding the upgrade of 40,000 regular rail bogies to Vande Bharat standards marks a significant milestone in India's railway modernization journey,” said <keyword id="20418142" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vivek-lohia" source="keywords">Vivek Lohia</keyword>, Managing Director, Jupiter Wagons. Experts also see many positive cues in the Budget for sectors relating to infrastructure and construction. "The boost to housing is another important proposal from the market perspective since this will benefit industries like cement, steel and all construction related segments," said Dr V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services. While companies and experts are impressed with the announcements, infrastructure and real estate stocks traded flat. Rail stocks like Jupiter Wagons, Ircon, IRCTC, IRFC and RVNL which traded in the green ahead of the budget announcement, fell into the red after the speech. The Nifty Midcap Index has also been trading with a negative bias since the morning, closed 0.6% below on Thursday. Nifty, Sensex remain unenthused by Interim Budget 2024 as bonds rally

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 27 (ANI): The stock market witnessed a downturn for the second consecutive trading day, reflecting global market uncertainties. Both the Sensex and <keyword id="19896381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="keywords">Nifty</keyword> indices opened lower on Tuesday, signaling cautious investor sentiment amid prevailing market conditions. At the opening bell, the Sensex was down by 119.20 points, starting at 72,669.73, while the Nifty faced a decline of 32.50 points, opening at 22,097.30. The market breadth on the Nifty was mixed, with 27 stocks advancing and 23 declining. If Nifty futures sustain above 22,185, a trading range of 22,224-22,265-22,311 is anticipated. Strong buying was also seen in the broader market with Midcap 100 up 1.24% and Smallcap 100 up 0.83%. Indian markets end higher after a choppy session – PSU banks, IT, FMCG gain

Equity benchmarks settled at record highs on Friday, rallying for the fourth day running, helped by intense buying in index majors <keyword id="6355199" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="reliance-industries" source="Orion">Reliance Industries</keyword>, <keyword id="10862" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="wipro" source="Orion">Wipro</keyword> and Maruti. In a largely range-bound trade, the 30-share BSE <keyword id="6484188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sensex" source="Orion">Sensex</keyword> climbed 20.96 points or 0.03 per cent to settle at 62,293.64, its fresh record closing high. During the day, it jumped 175.05 points or 0.28 per cent to 62,447.73 -- its lifetime intra-day peak. Sensex, Nifty50 close flat on a range-bound day – HDFC Life, Reliance rise, ICICI Bank drags

Mumbai, The <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="Orion">rupee</keyword> appreciated 16 paise to 81.54 against the US <keyword id="35208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dollar" source="Orion">dollar</keyword> in early trade on Friday on broad dollar weakness and in line with its Asian peers. At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 81.69 against the dollar, then gained ground to touch 81.54, registering a rise of 16 paise over its previous close. On Thursday, the rupee appreciated by 23 paise to close at 81.70 against the US dollar. Forex traders said the American currency has retreated from its elevated levels post Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) minutes. The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.23 per cent to 105.82. Moreover, steady crude oil price is also aiding investor sentiments. "Brent is steady around <keyword id="54123" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="usd" source="Orion">USD</keyword> 85 per barrel after Thursday's drop which came on reports that the price caps proposed for Russian crude were too high and above the current levels," IFA Global Research Academy said in a note. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, advanced 0.20 per cent to USD 85.51 per barrel. In the domestic equity market, the 30-share <keyword id="53232" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bse-sensex" source="Orion">BSE Sensex</keyword> was trading 39.89 points or 0.06 per cent lower at 62,232.79. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty fell 12.65 points or 0.07 per cent to 18,471.45. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital markets on Thursday as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,231.98 crore, according to exchange data. Indian markets open in the green despite mixed cues from Asian markets – SBI, PNB, Adani Enterprises in focus

<ul><li>India’s benchmark indices <keyword id="6484188" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="sensex" source="Orion">Sensex</keyword> and <keyword id="2931774" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty50" source="Orion">Nifty50</keyword> tanked on Tuesday, with most sectoral indices closing the day in the red.</li><li>While Sensex fell 632 points, Nifty50 fell 187 points as PSU bank, financial services and IT stocks dragged the indices down.</li><li>Mixed global sentiments and earnings season kept traders on the edge, with the India VIX (volatility index) climbing 5.9% on Tuesday.</li></ul>India’s benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 tanked on Tuesday, with most sectoral indices closing the day in the red, weighed by declines in PSU bank, financial services, IT and metal stocks that dragged the indices down. All sectoral indices except auto and healthcare closed the day in the red, with the PSU bank index declining the most. Sensex closed 1.04% or 632 points lower at 60,115, while Nifty50 slipped 1.03% or 187 points down at 17,914. Among sectoral indices, the PSU bank index declined the most at 2.67%, followed by financial services which declined 1.37%, while IT declined 0.85% and metal fell 0.75%. In the Nifty50 index, 33 out of 50 stocks registered a decline, while 22 out of the 30 stocks on Sensex closed in the red. Shares of most Adani Group companies were under pressure today with Adani Enterprises sinking nearly 6% being the top loser on Nifty50. This comes as several <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/ipos/fpos/international-holding-company-gulf-swfs-may-go-big-on-adani-enterprises-2-5-billion-fpo/articleshow/96867369.cms">media reports</a> said Adani Enterprises is eyeing a follow-on public offer (FPO) to raise nearly ₹20,000 crore in January. Gulf sovereign wealth funds (SWF) and financial institutions, including International Holding Company (IHC), are likely to be amongst the biggest investors. A report by the <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/ipos/fpos/international-holding-company-gulf-swfs-may-go-big-on-adani-enterprises-2-5-billion-fpo/articleshow/96867369.cms">Economic Times</a> said IHC is reportedly planning to acquire 10% to 15% of the issue by investing between ₹2,000 crore and ₹2,800 crore. On the other hand, <keyword id="42747" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="Orion">Tata Motors</keyword> was the top performer on the 50-stock index as it climbed 5.92% after its subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) reported a 13% increase in its wholesales and reported a free cash flow of £485 million (approx. ₹3,992 crore). Meanwhile, weakness in the US dollar resulted in the rupee closing below the 82 level for the first time in the last one month. Rupee gained 57 paise to close at 81.78 against the US dollar on Tuesday. "Powell is unlikely to depart from the Fed’s hawkish stance but if the CPI data of Wednesday confirms the declining trend in inflation, the market will get ahead of the Fed and will start pricing in a terminal rate below 5% and possible rate cuts by end 2023,” said V K Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Financial Services. <div type="image" title="daily-profit-loss-26" msid="96886889" hostid="261"></div> US markets erase gains, Asian markets mixed In the US, ongoing worries about inflation erased most of the gains made by the benchmark S&amp;P 500 index, which closed marginally lower by 0.08%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.34%. On the other hand, the tech-heavy Nasdaq closed in the green with a gain of 0.63%. Demand and recessionary concerns led to a cool down in crude oil prices, with the Brent crude oil falling below the $80 per barrel level to $79.2. Asian markets were mixed on Tuesday, reflecting the indecisive market sentiment. The Hang Seng index was down 0.27%, while Shanghai Composite was 0.21% lower. On the other hand, Nikkei 225 was up 0.78% and Taiwan Weighted index was up 0.34%. “Global shares eased on Tuesday as investors took profit on the gains from the past two weeks after comments from two Federal Reserve officials injected a note of caution over the U.S. rate outlook, cracking equities. Optimism over China reopening has faded,” said Deepak Jasani, head of retail research at HDFC Securities. Meanwhile, Brent crude oil price gained 0.26% at 79.86 per barrel as China announced the reopening of its borders, boosting fuel demand outlook.
