With the new investment, Razorpay plans to hire senior employees and take its total number of employees to 700 by 2020 from the current strength of 350. The 5-year old startup founded by IIT alums Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar has been growing its business rapidly and claims to have grown by 500% in the last financial year. “Our key mission is that while our partner businesses disrupt the Indian economy with new ideas, products, experiences and new jobs, we want to power their financial systems. Over 350,000 disruptors partnered with us to create the difference that we are here to make. This funding has come in at a time when fintech and banking is evolving beyond payments and lending, and we would like to change the way businesses access banking products,” said Harshil Mathur, CEO and Co-Founder, Razorpay. It is poised for more growth. The company said that its neo-banking platform and lending arm could alone contribute to 40% of its revenue by next year. The credit card will give businesses a no-cost interest for 50 days with a credit line ranging between ₹50,000 to ₹25,00,000. “The move we have made today, helps us expand our horizon in payments and banking and solve new challenges for ambitious businesses who are wanting to disrupt the Indian economy,” said said Harshil Mathur, CEO and Co-founder of Razorpay. The company also claims that it has seen a 500% growth in the last one year. It has over 800,000 clients and hopes to grow this number to 1.4 million by 2020. Some of its marquee clients are Indigo, Bombay Stock Exchange, Thomas Cook, Reliance Industries, SpiceJet, Aditya Birla, Sony and Oyo. It is also expecting its business volume to grow four times by the end of FY21. Of the 650 new positions for both freshers and lateral hires, 350 will be towards expanding the engineering and product teams, and the rest will form the customer experience, sales and marketing forces, the company said in a statement. The company which currently has 1,300 employees hired over 550 <keyword id="10750931" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="people-last-year">people last year</keyword> and witnessed a three times business growth in the pandemic-hit year. "Our hiring plans are driven by more investment in product development, customer experience and new additions to the existing product suite so that we cater to the ever-evolving payment and banking needs of SMEs &amp; MSMEs," said Chitbhanu Nagri, Senior Vice President, People Operations, Razorpay. During the demo day, 12 Indian startups (2 of them have not been made public yet) are presenting their business ideas. Y Combinator, which takes in two batches of startups in a year, saw a 50% increase in participation from Indian startups. As many as 140 seed stage startups applied to the accelerator, while 12 of them were selected. MyPetrolPump The Bengaluru-based startup delivers on-demand fuel to cars, fleet vehicles and generators. They start delivery at 6 am in the morning, and it goes on until midnight. Lokal Lokal is a news app which delivers news and classifieds in vernacular content. The app currently delivers news in Telugu for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Wingman The startup helps sales representatives with on-screen and real-time analysis. The startup’s AI assistant helps the employees, and assists them with cue cards for their presentations, helping them improve performance. DigiPrex DigPrex works as an online pharmacy where patients can share prescription online and get medicines delivered at home, via through Whatsapp. Khabri The podcast platform offers vernacular content to Indians. Their content ranges from news to inspirational content and even jobs, where users can tune in to listen to information on-the-go. Mela Mela is an e-commerce platform that enables group buying through WhatsApp and Facebook. The platform helps collective buying at much cheaper costs and works much like the popular Chinese platform Pinduoduo. Nonu Nonu is a personal healthcare startup, specializing in hair loss treatment with prescription medicines, shampoos, and more. Vahan Vahan is a recruitment platform which uses Artificial Intelligence to match employers with job seekers. Through its messaging platform, it promises faster recruitment. GreenTiger Two former Microsoft employees Prateek Swain and Tyler Burnam launched GreenTiger, which helps Indians invest in the US stock market. The startup is based out of Sunnyvale, California. Binks Binks, launched in 2019, helps women get custom-made clothes online. Through the platform, women can pick styles, take a photograph and upload it on the platform along with measurements and then a custom made outfit is delivered in three days.

<ul><li>The share of Indian tech companies who hired <keyword id="7771650" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gig-workers" source="Orion">gig workers</keyword> has risen – to 65% in 2022, from 57% in 2020 </li><li>Companies now want to hire gig workers for a longer period of time – a fourth of the organisations surveyed want to hire gig workers for over 12 months. </li><li>In fact, 53% of them decided to absorb their gig workers as full-time employees.</li></ul>The gig economy in India has ballooned in the last two years, all thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, and this trend has been witnessed even in the technology sector. The share of Indian tech companies who hired gig workers has risen – to 65% in 2022 from 57% in 2020, reveals a new survey by <keyword id="6372077" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="nasscom" source="Orion">Nasscom</keyword>, Indeed and AON. However, the proportion of gig workers in the workforce remains less than 5% in tech companies with more than 2,000 full-time employees. In fact, 53% of them decided to absorb their gig workers as full-time employees, said the report. “Companies investing in gig work platforms and processes speak volumes about how critical talent is for enabling their next level of growth, especially now, given the global uncertainties. Businesses that place gig workers at the core of their business strategies will continue to thrive in 2023 and beyond,” said Sashi Kumar, head of sales, Indeed India. This spike in demand for gig workers is accompanied by salary jumps too, according to a report by RazorpayX Payroll earlier this week. The salaries of gig professionals <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/careers/news/number-of-gig-workers-earning-over-85000/month-rose-over-60-since-last-october-report/articleshow/95208221.cms">has seen a massive 153%</a> surge in the last one year, the RazorpayX Payroll report said. Hiring gig workers has also aided the tech organisations to reduce the time taken to hire new employees for new roles. It has also helped in engaging with a more diverse workforce which includes retired professionals and women returning to workforce, according to the Nasscom report. “However, ensuring the quality of gig workers, hurdles in security checks and verification, lack of structured policies, and clarity on regulations or guidelines for gig workers are some of the key concern areas amongst organisations,” the Nasscom report said.
