9 Awkward Boss-Employee Conversations During Appraisal Meetings

Bosses can be very demanding, and even as you may be thinking you overexceeded their expectations, they may be sulking over that split second you decided to meet a friend downstairs for smoke, or take two three breaks in between work. Here each and everything counts!

Demand, but only for what you deserve.. You may not even get that because all this while when you were keeping an eye on that girl across the table, your boss was counting the hours going unproductive!

Sometimes your boss, who usually turns anyone down when it comes to logical debates, fails to make any sense to you. Worse is if that happens when you are asking for your due in appraisals rightfully. Don't rip your hair, because even he knows he is being unreasonable but he's just doing what he has been told.

When an employee has no hopes, he attempts at something that will either make the boss realize his mistake or make him throw the employee out. There's a very thin line between the two. So, it's danger zone. Think and move ahead.

The standard reply to this question would be - I helped the company get deals worth Rs 10 crore, I got new clients on the board this year etc. If you are miffed with the boss for being biased or tough on you, remember your rote answers will not even sound convincing to yourself. So, throw that negativity and put forward the best you have done in a way noone can ignore!

One opportunity, and your tyrant boss will not take a second to use it against you. If you want to leave an impression on him, never expose your weaknesses, and if you cannot, then know how best to hide them.

Not everyone can have a boss who understands work efficiency. If you are the kind of person who can wrap up a day's work in 4 hours, it's not necessary your boss will look at it the same way. He may feel you are not interested enough to put in hard work. And you're doomed despite being highly productive.

Simply giving a hunter to your boss to guide you in any direction he wants will get you nowhere. If you are being asked to do something, reason it out. Otherwise, at the moment when you seek rewards, your blind faith in your boss can turn against you. Remember, you are just an employee for him.

Either be his puppet or don't, there's no middle way to this. If you pretend something on the face, and do the opposite behind his back, he has other puppets, perhaps more loyal than you, who will open their mouth.
