Following the delivery of its eighteenth Dreamliner, Air India will get the remaining nine Boeing 787 in the next two years. According to a senior official in the airline, the airline plans to take the deliveries of five Dreamliner next year and four in 2016.

“Air India has ordered 27 Boeing 787s, of which 18 are now with us. The carrier will get 5 B-787s in 2015 and the remaining 4 in the subsequent year,” said the official.

The airline has deployed its Dreamliner long haul routes such as Birmingham, Paris, Frankfurt, London, as well as New York and Chicago. “At the moment, the 18th B787 too will be deployed on its existing route,” added the official.

The airline is also planning to launch non-stop direct flights to Toronto by early or mid next year. “Everything is still in the discussion stage. The revenues, load factor and other details are being worked out. Only then will the management take a decision on whether to start flights to Toronto directly. However, it is definitely on the cards,” mentions the official.
