AMD Brings Two Workstation Grade Graphics Cards To India, The FirePro W8100 And The W9100

It has been couple of years since AMD took over ATI and all its graphics cards are now shipped with the AMD marking. On Thursday, they have brought two new professional grade graphics cards to India. From the FirePro series these GPU ’s are called the W8100 and the W9100.
Built for extreme performance, these cards are well suited for video editors, graphicdesigners and visual artist amongst others. The W8100 has nearly 38 times the performance of the closest competing product on double precision testing. W8100 supports 4K computer aided design along with media and entertainment workflows. The W8100 also features 8 GB of GDDR5 memory and upto 4.2 TFLOPS of single precision compute performance.
A level above, AMD has brought in its flagship and fastest professional grade graphics unit in the form of W9100. This GPU has 16 GB of ultra-fast GDDR5 memory and can support up to six 4K displays.Raja Koduri , Corporate Vice President, AMD said “The AMD Firepro W9100 is designed to deliver ultimate visual supercomputing performance for the next generation, ultra-high resolution workflows.”
These graphic cards are surely going to strengthen AMD’s professional level solutions for the Indian customers. The market is slowly growing and people from educational institutes such as MAAC in India to Telegu movie cinema have started upgrading to AMD FirePro cards. AMD is in talks with someBollywood movie houses as well to adapt to this new technology.
