Upcoming new electric bikes in India in 2022

When we think of electric two-wheelers in India, low-powered scooters with short range come to mind. However, that is no longer the case as bonafide automakers are launching powerful electric bikes in the country.

While the electric bike segment is still lagging in terms of options, that will change very soon. Hero, EeVe and Evolet showcased their electric bikes at the Auto Expo 2020 - promising a few launches this year.

Before we look at the upcoming electric bikes in India, let’s take a look at the Revolt RV400, an existing electric bike, its features and range.

Top upcoming electric bikes in India

Revolt RV400

The Revolt RV400 is currently available in only two cities – Delhi and Pune. The bike is powered by a 3,000W motor that can produce 170Nm of peak torque and a top speed of 80 kmph. It is powered by a 3.23 kWh battery that can be fully charged in 4.5 hours and has a range of 150 km.

It is available in two variants – Base and Premium. The Base variant is available for ₹3,499 per month and the Premium variant is available for ₹3,999 per month. Buyers will have to pay 37 monthly instalments for both the variants.

Hero Electric AE-47

Hero Electric showcased the AE-47, the company’s first electric bike at the Auto Expo 2020. The bike is expected to be launched in the coming months. It is aimed at the premium segment and is expected to be priced around ₹1.25 - 1.5 lakh.

The Hero Electric AE-47 is powered by a 4,000W electric motor with a claimed top speed of 85 kmph. It is powered by a 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of 85 km on Power mode and 160 km on Eco mode. The company has revealed that the battery can be fully charged in 4 hours.

Tork T6X

Tork Motors, which received investment from Ratan Tata last year, is currently working on the Tork T6X electric bike for the Indian market. The bike is expected to be launched in the coming months.

The Tork T6X is reportedly powered by a 72Ah lithium-ion battery and can be charged to 80% within an hour.. It is reported to be powered by a 6kW BLDC motor which is capable of producing 27Nm of torque and a top speed of 100 kmph. The range of the bike is claimed to be 100 km on a single charge.

Evolet Hawk

Evolet, a Gurugram-based start-up showcased the Hawk electric bike at the Auto Expo 2020. It is reportedly powered by a 72-volt battery that can be charged in 3 to 4 hours and has a range of 100 km. The Evolet Hawk is reported to have a top speed of 120 kmph.

EeVe Tesoro

EeVe is another start-up working on electric bikes and scooters. The company showcased its Tesoro bike at the Auto Expo 2020. However, the company did not reveal much information about the upcoming bike. It is expected to be launched in June 2020.

The EeVe Tesoro is reported to have a top speed of 70 kmph and a range of 100 km. The bike can be fully charged in 3 to 4 hours.
