The auto sales data in September has fuelled the hopes of a recovery in the battered auto industry. And with the festive season around the corner, automakers are now gearing up to launch the best of their models this month.
September sales of leading automakers like Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors, and others indicate a substantial uptick in people’s buying sentiments. Most automakers have logged in a rebound in demand, with
sales recovering to near pre-COVID levels.

These are the top car launches scheduled in October 2020:
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
BMW South Africa
The German carmaker’s BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is likely to hit the Indian markets post its official launch on October 15. The estimated pricing for the sedan is around ₹35- ₹38 lakh.
The car will come with some top features like a 10.25-inch TFT screen for the instrument panel, a 10.25-inch touchscreen system with iDrive interface, a dual-zone climate control system, panoramic sunroof, and optional features like voice-assistant, parking assistant, driving assistant, among others.
MG Gloster
MG Motor India’s MG Gloster SUV is likely to be launched on October 10. The SUV will offer a 6-seater capacity Savvy variant, whereas the 7-seater layout will be available in the other two variants— Sharp and Super.
MG Gloster may be priced around
₹35-45 lakh onwards. It will come with various features like— a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, three-zone climate control with PM 2.5 filter, panoramic sunroof, and a 12-way adjustable driver seat with memory function.
Audi Q2
While there is no word on the official date for the launch of Audi Q2, the car is expected to launch somewhere near the end of October. The company has already started accepting pre-bookings for the vehicle since Saturday (October 3) — the booking can be made at any of its retail stores or online at a token amount of ₹2 lakh.
Audi Q2 will be the company’s fifth launch this year. And, the car is expected to be priced around ₹35 lakh.
Volkswagen Passat 2020
German auto manufacturer’s Volkswagen Passat 2020 is gearing up to hit the market this month. Reports suggest that the launch is likely on October 10, with pricing around ₹30 lakh.
The new Passat 2020 is expected to feature a fully digital instrument console with an updated infotainment system that will support smartphone connectivity. The car will rival against Skoda Superb and the Toyota Camry in the Indian market.
Land Rover Defender
Tata Motors subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover(JLR) India has announced the launch of its iconic new Land Rover Defender SUV on October 15. The initial price for the modern iteration of the iconic off-roading car is ₹69.99 lakh.
JLR India had planned to launch the Land Rover Defender in India in June. However, the coronavirus-led slowdown forced the company to defer the launch.
