The startup provides a user-friendly platform that allows people to easily search for plants, and select from a range of premium eco-friendly planters to create the complete set. Abhilash Pandey, Co-founder at Greenkin, explains that "The idea behind Greenkin is to help people discover low-maintenance indoor plants that can be an instant addition to their home's décor. Plants can add to the vibe of a space, and create an aura of calmness in the house. We pair these plants with handcrafted planters to create décor-worthy premium-potted plants."

The concept combining indoor plants with stylish planters has been well received in the US, UK and European countries. To add a modern, eco-friendly touch to its products, Greenkin is using natural fibre and jute based planters.

Greenkin takes pride in sourcing raw materials from seven different states to create a single premium-potted plant. The startup uses its own proprietary soil mix, which is a combination of garden soil, cocopeat, wood chips, aerating compounds, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial compounds, and fertilisers. This ensures that plants receive adequate nutrition, and the roots remain firm but aerated for longevity.

Since its launch in October 2022, it has already shipped over 5,000 plants across 72 cities in India. Co-founder Ritika Wadhwan shared, "Shipping large live plants is both art and science. We spent months perfecting the shipping methodology before launching Greenkin. While it takes an average of only 3 days for our plants to reach across India, our packaging logic ensures that the plants survive up to 15 days under transit." Greenkin operates out of its distribution centre in Mumbai, and stores and nurtures its plants in astate-of-the-art, 10,000 sq. ft. fully solar-powered unit in Pali, Maharashtra. The startup currently has a workforce that is 70% women, and is also creating more job opportunities for women in both its hub and delivery centre.
