Season of deals: Diwali shopping offers on credit cards

As the festival of light approaches, most of us get into a spending mode. Whether it is gifts or personal purchases, this is a time of the year when we do not mind loosening our purse strings.

Banks recognise the celebratory spirit and unveil a plethora of deals, from cashback rewards on festive shopping to special discounts on their credit cards. We take a look at some credit cards that have attractive Diwali offers on shopping, dining, travel, etc.

SBI Credit Card offers

For the occasion of Diwali, SBI credit cards have discounts and cashbacks across categories- be it electronics, fashion and lifestyle, jewellery, mobile phones, travel and so on.

For example, on electronics you have a 5% discount at Great Eastern Retail stores and 10% instant discount on Flipkart. For mobile phones, you get ₹5,000 and ₹10,000 cashback on Samsung and Vivo phones purchased through EMI. In travel, you have 12% instant discounts on travel portals Cleartrip and Yatra.

ICICI Bank Credit Card offers

Between November 3 and November 10, 2015, all customers who make purchases on any online shopping website or mobile app through ICICI Bank credit cards will receive an extra 10% cashback. This cashback is in addition to any discounts provided by the shopping website.

There are other offers on different brands too. You can get an instant discount of ₹5,000 at any Croma store for a minimum purchase of ₹1 lakh. You can get an instant 15% discount on shopping at TataCliq, subject to a maximum limit.

You can also get a discount of 12%, 10% and 25% discount respectively on booking domestic and international flights and domestic hotels respectively at EaseMyTrip.

HDFC Bank Credit Card offers

There are several offers on HDFC Bank credit cards too when you shop. For example, you can receive instant cashback of up to ₹26,000 when using HDFC Bank credit Card and EMIs for LG Electronics purchases.

Additionally, you may enjoy up to ₹7,500 cashback on televisions and washing machines when using HDFC Bank credit cards for shopping at Reliance Retail.

You can get a 10% instant discount on HDFC Bank credit cards and credit card EMI when you shop at popular apparel brands like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Lifestyle and Arrow.

Unlock savings of up to ₹10,000 on Apple's product lineup when you use your HDFC Bank credit cards. Further, get up to ₹12,000 cashback on HDFC Bank credit cards, EasyEMI at Samsung.

Axis Bank credit card offers

Axis bank has offers on its credit card purchases across a wide range of products and services. You can get a 15% and 20% discount on bookings for flights and hotels on MakeMytrip and Goibibo respectively. Plus there is a 10% instant discount on Zomato and Swiggy Istamart orders of up to ₹100.

You can get up to ₹5,000 off on shopping at HomeCentre, additional ₹2,000 off on Lenovo products, and a flat 20% off on Ferns and Petals orders of minimum ₹999. Other offers include 25% discount on JBL products and 15% discount when shopping at the Titan online store. The discount codes for online purchase options are available on the bank’s website.

Kotak Mahindra Bank credit card offers

Kotak Mahindra Bank is offering a wide range of deals and discounts on its credit part across a wide range of categories.

In electronics, you can get 22.5% cashback on select Samsung products, while 20% instant cashback of up to ₹12,000 is available on Godrej products.

When it comes to dining, you can get instant 20% discounts and Swiggy and Zomato orders with different minimum order amounts. Plus you can get Up to 25% OFF on dining at Domino's, KFC, Mainland China, Pizza Hut, Costa Coffee and more.

For travel, you can get up to ₹7,500 off on Cleartrip and 12% instant discounts on MakeMyTrip among others.

You can use these discounts and offers available to save money on Diwali shopping. However, it is important to understand the terms and the conditions of the offers and read the fine print. Further, it is advisable not to overspend and cross one’s budget just because something is available for a discount.
