Four-member mounted patrol will now guard Bengaluru streets

Bungee Dancer, Locked Away, Resham and Thoran! These are not some random fancy names that you can have a good heart’s laugh at. These, in fact, are the names of the four horses from the stables at Bengaluru’s City Armed Reserve, which are all set to join the city’s police patrol team this Thursday.

The areas that will get the services of these horses and their riders are Commercial Street, Brigade Road and Cubbon Park from 3 pm to 9 pm on certain days of the week, during which they would assist the public.

"We will be deploying these mounted patrolmen in their designated spots on specific days, depending on the number of people in given areas. They have been instructed to help pedestrians or anyone who approaches them for assistance," Praveen Sood, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, told Bangalore Mirror.

As per the city police chief, the initiative would ensure quick and effective response to citizens in public spaces.
