India found a special mention during Google-owned multinational conglomerate Alphabet's earnings call this week. India-born Google CEO, Sundar Pichai talked about the success of Google’s project with Indian railways where Google had tied up with Indian railways owned Railtel to provide high-speed Wi-Fi services at railway stations all across India.

Speaking to the analysts over the earnings call, Pichai said "There are already two million people logging in every month. They are using as much as 15 times the data that they would otherwise use in a full day on their cellular networks." Currently the high-speed Wi-Fi services are available at 23 railway stations across the country.

Google eventually plans to roll out Wi-Fi network at 400 train stations across India. This year itself Google has committed to deliver high-speed Wi-Fi network to 10million Indians at 100 of the busiest train stations in India by the end of the year.
