Hasan Minhaj spoke about the Indian government’s decision to scrap Article 370. - Minhaj took to Twitter to share a clip from the sets of his popular Netflix show Patriot Act.
- While many have appreciated Minhaj’s stand on the issue, the post has also welcomed brought in a lot of criticism.
On India’s Independence Day, Minhaj wrote, “As India celebrates its independence, let's think about the people who don't seem to have any right now. #Kashmir”
The post has opened up to a mixed response with some applauding Minhaj taking a stand on the issue. There’s also a large section of Indians calling out the standup comic for being just another Indian-origin American talking about the issue.
On August 5, The Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced in the Rajya Sabha that Article 370 is scrapped revoking the state's right to have its own laws independent of the central legislations. The Indian government also divided the state into two Union Territories bringing the region directly under the central rule.
While the decision was taken on Monday (August 5), Kashmir has been in a dark alley with minimal or no $4 since two days before the decision.

In May, Minhaj got trolled on Twitter for commenting on the Indian elections and Modi’s landslide win.
Even a mainstream journalist dared him to join a debate on the issue. He however decided to stay out of it but did not miss the opportunity for a joke.
Now, his fans in India will be waiting for a special episode with his take on the contentious issue that has divided the world at large.
While Pakistan and its ally China have agitated against India's move in Kashmir, most countries have maintained stoic silence.
The United Nations will be holding a $4 meeting for the first time since 1965 to discuss the issue.
