First Lady Melania Trump’s white jumpsuit that she wore while landing in India – had a very Indian feature to it. The dress from the couture house – Atelier Caito from Herve Pierre, also featured a green belt. The belt is made from an ancient textile which is green silk intertwined with a gold metallic thread.

The design house said on Instagram that they sourced it in Paris from their collector friends. “We used the border which was the most Interesting piece,” they wrote.

Atelier Caito from Herve Pierre is run by designers Nicolas Caito and Hervé Pierre, who have earlier also designed for the First Lady. She wore the dress for her first appearance in India while she attended the Namaste Trump event at Motera in Gujarat. The Trumps also made a pit stop at Sabarmati Ashram on the way, where they tried their hand at the Charkha.

She is here on an official visit for 36-hours along with President Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner. This is Melania Trump’s first official visit to India.

Melania’s outfit also became a trending topic on Twitter for Indian tweeple who compared it to a karate costume.

While boarding the flight, Melania had worn a different outfit with flat shoes – Roger Vivier's Belle Vivier that cost a reported ₹65,000.

Melania Trump was a former fashion model who had modelled for various magazine covers including InStyle. Her sartorial choices often make news mostly for her showstopping looks. In fact, a few experts also compare her style to that of John F Kennedy’s wife Jaqueline Kennedy for her high neck blouses and her love for white coloured dresses and pantsuits.

Melania Trump is a Slovenian by birth who emigrated to the US and attained citizenship after she married Donald Trump in 2005.
