UP Board exams for class 10 and 12 postponed, schools shut till May 15

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has postponed the state Board examinations for Classes 10 and 12.

All Classes from 1 to 12 will also remain closed till May 15. The government spokesman said that fresh dates for the examinations would be announced sometime in May. Earlier, the board examinations were scheduled to begin from May 8.

This is the second time that the Board exams have been deferred. The exams were earlier scheduled to be held from April 24 but the dates were pushed ahead because of the Panchayat elections. The next date was May 8 which has now been put off.

The most populous state in India recorded 7,44,021 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 11,540 deaths. Uttar Pradesh currently has 1,11,835 active cases and total recovery till 14 April, 2021 - 6,22,810.

Remdesivir injection:

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has procured 25,000 vials of Remdesivir injection, used in the treatment of Covid-19. The vials were brought from Ahmedabad on Wednesday evening by a state aircraft.

A government spokesperson said that other than Remdesivir, the government was keeping a close watch over availability of eight other medicines, prescribed for Covid patients.

These include Ivermectin, Paracetamol, Doxycycline, Azithromycin, Vitamin C, Zinc tables, Vitamin B Complex and Vitamin D3.

"Health department officials have been asked to ensure that there is no shortage of these drugs in any district. For that, the chief minister has also asked the health department to coordinate with all districts to find out how much stock they have and when they will need replenishments.
