Eric Holcomb, the governor of the state of Indiana in US, has been encouraged by Infosys' decision to set up a tech centre there. He has announced that he would pay India a visit with his high- powered trade delegation later this year, so that he can attract more Indian businesses, in particular IT companies.

"I'm looking forward to travelling to India, probably in the fall, before the winter," Holcomb told PTI. He added that he has wanted to visit India as soon after his appointment early this year but was distracted by prior engagements and the season of summer.

Holcomb is looking forward to growing Indiana's presence and strengthen its friendship and partnership with Indian companies, by becoming the first Indiana governor to visit India.

He said that Indiana offers favourable conditions to IT companies.

"Indiana is such fertile ground (for IT companies). We have world class universities where Infosys can in fact recruit that talent right out of Purdue, Indiana University... folks who are strong in the STEM subjects, science and technology, engineering and math, right here in their backyard now," he said.

He added that Indiana has low tax rates and a "reasonable predictable regulatory environment so there's real certainty when you invest in the state of Indiana and our people".
