Police bodycam footage captured the moment a car hit a tow truck ramp at full speed on a Georgia highway, sending it flying through the air.

Officers from Lowndes County Sheriff's office were already on the scene responding to a traffic stop when the vehicle came hurtling down the road towards a stationary tow truck, according to Good Morning America. It soared around 120 feet into the air before smashing down into another car.

Officials said the driver of the vehicle was a 21-year-old woman from Tallahassee, Florida. She survived the incident but sustained serious injuries, they added.

Lieutenant Crystal Zion told Good Morning America that the force was still investigating the cause of the crash, and she offered some advice to drivers in the meantime: "Move over, slow down, be careful, try to get rid of all the distractions."

Most US states, including Georgia, have a version of the "move over law," which requires drivers to leave a safe amount of space for emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and tow trucks.

Georgia's law stipulates that "motorists traveling in the lane adjacent to the shoulder must move over one lane when emergency and utility vehicles are stopped on the side of the highway and operating in an official capacity," per the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
