Last date of nomination for Maharashtra state elections

The Maharashtra state assembly will see general elections in October 2019 since the tenure of the present state government is ending on November 9, 2019. Through a recent announcement, The Election Commission has declared that the state of Maharashtra will go for polling in the next month. As per the details of the announcement, we see that all the 288 assembly seats will go for polling on the same day.

In a press meeting conducted in New Delhi on Saturday, September 21, 2019, the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora gave the list of all the dates pertaining to the assembly elections in the state.

On September 27, 2019, the gazette notification about Maharashtra state elections will be published.

The last date for the candidates to file their nominations is Friday, October 4, 2019.

All the applications will be scrutinized by the Election Commission on Monday, October 5, 2019 and the EC’s decision on approving or disapproving the candidatures will be announced on the same day.

If any candidate wishes to withdraw their nomination, the last date will be Monday, October 7, 2019 to do so.

The state wide assembly polls for all its 288 constituencies will happen on the same day on Monday, October 21, 2019.

On Thursday, October 24, 2019, the votes will be counted and the results will be declared.

In the Maharashtra assembly, there are 288 seats in total. The present government led by the BJP came to power in 2014 after winning in the general elections. In the said assembly polls, there was no pre-poll alliance between the BJP and Shiv Sena. However, they came together to form the government after the elections by pooling together all their 185 seats.
