Next time you want to see the railway schedule, just ask Google

If you are done with slow website of Indian Railways, just log on to Google for the trains’ schedule next time. Yes, you heard us right! Today onwards, Google will update Indian Railways schedule and public transport information for eight Indian cities on Google Transit .
Google Transit is a feature onGoogle Maps which helps people to plan public transport trip easily and is available on Android, iOS devices and even desktop as well.
The feature will be in place for Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune and will also update metro routes.
All you need to do is type your destination into Google Maps, click on the “Get Directions” button and then select the “Public Transit” icon to find a metro, train or bus option.
Google Maps will subsequently display door-to-door directions to the destination with the public transport options available.
One can also select preferred mode of transport.
“Google Transit is part of our effort to make Google Maps more comprehensive, accurate and useful for millions of people around the world who take buses, trains, metros or trams to their next destination. We hope that the addition of the Indian Railways schedules pan India and updated information for eight cities to Google Transit in India will make it a little easier to plan your next trip,” said Suren Ruhela, Director, Program Management, Google Maps.
Today, Google Maps has public transportation schedules for more than one million transit stops worldwide, in 2,800 cities including New York, London, Tokyo and Sydney.
Since 2005, Google has collaborated with hundreds of public transit agencies worldwide to make their schedule information accessible to all Google Maps users.
